JOHN Bryant, 37, AKA Lily Devine is a single dad by day and a fabulous drag queen by night. John has a son, Nicholas, 12, from a previous relationship with a woman but after the relationship broke down he came out as gay. During this time, and whilst working in the LGBTQ+ community, he discovered the art form of drag and decided to give it a go himself - that's when Lily Devine was born. To begin with, this wasn-t a particularly positive experience - John-s friends, family and the local community weren't fully accepting of his sexuality or his new found love of drag. John had to deal with comments at the school gates from other parents questioning the influence of his lifestyle on his son. Nicholas couldn-t be more proud of his dad and has always supported him. Tonight, Lily is back in action after a layoff due to the pandemic - and Nicholas will be front row cheering his father on

If my father had dressed like this, I would have been cheated about it for my whole life, and contrary to what service sores may claim, I'm far from the only one who thinks that. But that no one wants to hear. Yeah, I know, it's cool to say -but if everyone is happy, where is the problem-? And if the kids aren't happy about it, what do we do? But that, nobody wants to hear it, all the -politically correct- prefer to say -if it is a good father-. But being a good father also means thinking about the consequences of the actions you take, it's also thinking about the consequences of the choices you make regarding your children, and I'm ready to tell my head that the majority of children would be tromatized by such a father.

My only thing is. why does he look so amazing in make up, while I look like a schlep? LOL I have always envied drag queens for their amazing make up art.
As for the rest - you do you Booboo! I'm glad to see that he is who he is, loves who he loves, takes amazing care of his kid. Take notes - we all should be living our truth!
EDIT! His son doesn't like Hocus Pocus? What. how. is that even possible? I'm tempted to take back all the nice things I said and thought lmao!

if he is been there for his son and support him financially then whats wrong with his job? i see nothing wrong there. i think its pretty cool than having a conservative uptight parents. I personally would love him to be my dad cause my dad is a complainer who complains abt everything. He tries to find something bad abt everything which is super annoying and we always ended up scolding each other due to this.

This dad seems to me like an amazing dad! And nick seems like such a good open hearted mature kid. And he gets to grow up in such a creative environment and he also learns not to judge people. I think thats the biggest wealth we can give to children. I would totally want to have this family as my friends and neighbors.

. Well it matters not what the job or hobby is, what matters is the child is being loved, supported, and cared for. And the child will at least be raised to be accepting of others and open minded. On the other hand, there are lots of fathers with conservative jobs, who are uncaring, abusive or absent.

Ok am i the only one that the minute he came into view i was OH MY he looks like the character Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. Every time he was in Drag i was phew. Ill also clarify im not saying he is a serial killer. He seems like a great dad etc. But Damn i can't not see that beginning.

He is being the best he can be! I mean for me he is not a good influence but hell he does take care of the kid looks happy I have seen other stories that the kids and family look miserable still don-t condone this specially if kids are present

the relationship between these two looks better then most of the father/son relationships I know! That kid is growing up with a loving parent that is teaching him to be unapologetically true to yourself and follow your passion.

My only problem with this is when the son says he doesn-t like Hocus Pocus.
Ummmmmm-- that movie is awesome.
Other than that this is a great dad, great kid and they seem very close and supportive of each other!

He is raising a child who looks happy and well-taken of and will probably grow up to be an open-minded, accepting adult. I have never heard of a single dad drag queen before and I think it's pretty great -

He is a wonderful father and also a gorgeous drag queen! I'm so glad his son is so supportive (as I had a friend with a similar situation who was embarrassed) so this honestly makes me so happy
reply

He is obviously a great father, loves his son and they have a close relationship. His son is happy and taken care of and is supportive of his father. That is all that matters!

I love that truly is so women and feminine and queer and trans and disability friendly while still being still so positive! They are way ahead of their time. Thank u!
reply

Yeah so what. If people don't make it a problem it's not a problem. It doesn't hurt people it doesn't make people sad the who the hell cares
reply

He looks absolutely stunning. Him and his son both look happy and healthy, and that-s all that matters. He-s different but still dad.

reply

He-s done a wonderful job with his son, just listen to how well spoken and supportive he is! And that is all that matters!
reply

This one reminds me to -The Comebacks- movie.
The boy's happy, the dad's happy. that's all that matter. it really is

reply

Saying that he is a -bad influence- presumes that being a drag queen is in some way -bad-. That's not how I feel! :-)

Single parents are tough as nails. He-s no different and seems to be doing an amazing job. Got a good kid.
