AN INTERABLED couple have hit back at online trolls who have criticised them for their decision to start a family. Alyssa and Jimmy, both 30, from New York, USA, met online in the summer of 2013, and soon fell in love. But the couple has sadly had to deal with some judgement, because Alyssa is disabled due to a spinal cord injury. She explained how people make hurtful assumptions about her capabilities, and have even implied that Jimmy has a fetish for people in wheelchairs. Thankfully the pair also have a lot of online support and try to focus on the positives. But when Alyssa began documenting her pregnancy with their first baby, Luke, who was born in May, on Instagram, where she has 112, 000

I don't think physical mobility is a precursor for parenthood. I was at uni with a gorgeous young girl who was confined to a wheelchair. During renovations at the uni I used to houst her over my shoulder and carry her up the stairs to some classes while another classmate would take her wheelchair. She met a guy and was soon pregnant. I knew they'd make beautiful babies. Anything is possible if your heart is in it.

You better inspiration to me I have cerebral palsy I've grown up with cerebral palsy since I was two and a half since I was born same tell me that I would never walk I would never talk I would never live on my own and I would not be independent but I proved them wrong by the grace of God he has a purpose for me but I don't know what it is yet but I can't wait to see what the rest of my life holds

Well, if people can find a way to cope with having a baby and raising it, why not? It would be different if there was some serious hereditary condition involved but with this paralysis, it seems to be nothing that parents can pass onto their baby through their genes. I hope the birth and the baby and all goes well for all concerned.

Why would anyone have issues with a person having a baby but needs a wheel chair? Is that the same as a person paralyzed in a factory explosion? Like, well too bad you are physically challenged now especially that it would be wrong to take care of a infant. Only couples with no abnormalities should be allowed to do it. What The Heck?

When the baby is born and you become a Mom caring for a baby. you will realize you are completely handicapped to take care of a baby. If your husband works, you will need to hire a full time nanny. I wish you all well though. Lots of incapable have children. However you will understand people's comments once you become parents.
reply

people need to understand that when you put yourself out there in the internet that you-re going to have both positive and negative things come back at you. if you don-t want that to happen, don-t post.
it is sad that people do write/say negative things but of course there will be those people out there.

Nooo why does anyone ever pay attention to all these negative comments online?
Hmm. I just thought, I need to take my own advice because lately I've been letting some closer harassment get to me!
But it doesn't bother me anymore now!

It can be difficult and and risky for both the mother and baby, but it's their choice they can have that. They seem sweet, I just hope they understand the difficulties and can get through it

Beautiful people and couple! I wish there was more people who could see in others their character, soul and beautiful heart not just judge others by look. Many blessings for you and your baby.

I don't get it. so she doesn't deserve to be happy because she has a disability? People need to mind their damn business and keep scrolling if they don't have anything good to say -
reply

She's ABLED enough to have a baby and has a loving and caring nature towards her unborn child already! She's going to be an amazing mother. The baby will have two loving parents
reply

There is literally no difference between having kids with your sibling and having kids as a person with a genetic condition.
This lady doesn-t have a GENETIC condition.

If both potential parents are willing and able to have a child and make raising them work, who is anyone else to judge the logistics of how they do so?
reply

What kind of little brain uses the word -crippled-. That defies belief. Best of everything to this beautiful couple. They-ll be great parents.
reply

Disabled women have and raise children all the time. Like anything else, it takes a little time to adjust. I support them in wanting a family!

They judge because they don't have a life keep on loving each other and your new born you are not begging the haters anything let them talk.

You will make great parents - and actually it's no ones business but yours whether you decide to be parents or not. Good luck!
