INGRID Schlegel, 20, from Brazil, was born with a port wine hemangioma - a vascular birthmark that covers her left cheek and lip. Growing up, Ingrid used to worry that she wouldn-t be accepted because of her differences. She was bullied at school and she often received judgement and comments from strangers. She told Truly: -I used to say I-ll never get a boyfriend or a job because I don-t fit into society-s standards. - But a few years ago at a big party in her town, Ingrid decided to change her mindset. She said: -I realised that I needed to accept and love myself as I am or I would live depressed, hiding myself away in my room. - That was a turning point for Ingrid, who now uses her social media to raise awareness about vascular birthmarks. She loves her birthmark, saying that it makes her unique and beautiful in her own way

When I was young I made that mistake of asking a girl if she was ok because I didn't realize the discoloration was a birth mark. I felt horrible. I still feel horrible about it because I couldn't apologize. It was at a public park and when I asked if she had been hurt she stopped talking to me and was visibly irritated so I could understand I upset her. I just didn't understand untill much later when I learned of these kinds of birth marks. Anyway if I could apologize to her I would. This is one of those lessons I learned of don't assume.

is it weird that the 1st thing I thought was. she's Gorgeous. and can she sing, because all I can think about is making an epic production of Phantom of the Opera. a reimagining where she finds that she has a twin cousin, but also is a princess. that was born first, and thus the rightful ruler. set in 2026. in a pocket dimension. that is the catalyst to the MCU And DCEU crossing over.

This is one of the things I love the internet for. We are seeing more and more people who are considered out of the norm. I'm happy that she's not -inside a room, hiding- because the more we see people who look different, the more difference becomes a normal part of life. I hope that with time, we'll reach the point where it is not such a big deal anymore.

It-s sad that people live thinking a literal SPOT on their face determines their lifestyle and future. Society is disgusting sometimes. There should be no -standards- when it comes to appearance. People should be able to live their life to the fullest no matter what they look like.

She's so pretty and what a positive outlook on life she has I hope that never changes. I do wonder sometimes out of curiosity how people that have conditions like hers or other skin conditions that changes their skin color or texture do their makeup if they wear it.

She is gorgeous! I went to Jr. High & highschool with a girl who had a large portwine stain birthmark also on one side of her face too & I thought she was the most attractive girl in our entire school. She was gorgeous & classy!

O darling you're so damn beautiful. I know it must be challenging for you when people out there discriminate you for being different. You deserve the same chance on everything like others have

Oh my goodness she is such a pretty girl. Only if she wants to but I'm sure surgery could be done but only if it's something she cares to do but I wonder what the possibilities are

Even with your birthmark, you are a beautiful, strong, amazing, young women. With a HUGE LOVING HEART! You deserve all the happiness you can get and I hope you get just that!

Wow Truly profits off of showing off disabled people and doesn-t give them any money to treat their conditions, what a bunch of greedy shitbags

Ingrid is absolutely stunning! The birthmark does not detract from her beauty at all. I wish Ingrid all the happiness in the world!

I have a large hemangioma birth mark. I always figured it waded out the shallow jerks. The woman is beautiful birthmark or no birthmark

Guarantee if this was a man who had this birthmark, the chances of him finding a woman would be much less likely.
