HUMAN statue Joey lives with an extremely rare condition that turns his muscles to bone - making him almost completely immobile. Joey, 28, was born with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP. Affecting less than 1, 000 people worldwide, the condition progressively gets worse with time and Joey's case has become so severe he has now lost control over most of his body. Despite the inevitable hardship this has caused, Joey remains positive about his life so far and his future. Joey requires care around the clock, as he is unable to do most things on his own. His best friend Ely often helps him with his day-to-day routine, including getting his food via a feeding tube. Joey told Truly: I need someone near me at all times because I can't do anything on my own

This is a horrible condition which my son suffers from and as a parent to see your kid slowly lose mobility is horrendous. BUT these kids are also inspiring my son is at the moment in his 3rd year at university studying ethical hacking and is determined to make his way in the world.
What I would as is to stop using the term -turning to stone- it sounds like some freak show headline

What an inspiration you are! Keep making videos & everyone will support you & keep on watching! I help care for a fellow FOP-er. Rachel Winnard. We did a video challenge for a day with The Born Differently group & it was a fun way to raise awareness! Keep having fun, you have an amazing soul & amazing outlook on life! Long may it continue x

You're a brilliant and awesome guy. I'm so glad ya shared this with us. Have you ever thought if the Mutter Museum? There are 2 people who's bodies were donated to them and it helps other's to understand what you're dealing with every moment of your life. Thanks for letting us see a tint bit of your daily life. Man, this guy made my day honestly. He is so happy, funny, full of life. But this horrible condition is ravaging his body. Makes me feel so sad, but he has a great friend that obviously cares about him. Wish you nothing but the best Joey! --

I watched a doc on FOP before, and it was really scary that the people had to decide if they wanted to be in a lying down position for the rest of their life, or a sitting position.

He could easily have said, -Please let me die, I don't want to live like that, - in any number of ways, but he keeps a positive attitude! I wish more people would be like that!

This is heartwarming. I was a CNA for 30 years. It was wonderful to be around great people. I love that he has a good friend that helps him.
