UP until the age of 12, Rafi was an energetic boy who made it his life-s mission to terrorise his three older sisters. But when he was 12, Rafi suffered a terrible stroke and haemorrhage that forced him to relearn how to walk and talk. His body was forced into locked-in syndrome. Rafi's family would initially communicate with him just by blinking eyes at one another. But over time, Rafi has re-learnt how to walk and talk - though the stroke, which was caused by an Arteriovenous malformation (AVM, has left him with long term speech issues and also some memory loss. With an incredibly positive attitude, Rafi hasn't let anything stop him and he started modelling as a teenager and also took up competitive racerunning - where competitors use a frame to race. He has no problem attracting women on Tinder but getting beyond a first date has proved more difficult. On his profile he describes himself as a 'para athlete' and uses the emoji of a walking frame to indicate he has a form of disability. How will things go with his blind date today?

Medicaid rules are set up to make marriage and having necessary healthcare benefits incompatible. Many disabled people are forced to hide their relationships in order to keep the benefits they need.
The struggle to survive in the current system takes a financial and psychological toll on disabled people-s ability to get married and live a healthy stable peaceful life with the one they love. It-s difficult not to internalize the fact that society views anyone with a disability of any kind unfit to be marriage material, a burden and therefore penalizes them if they DARE being married.
We need to end income requirements for disabled people who cannot live without Medicaid or SSDI/SSI, it is the only thing here in the U. S by both government parties that is standing in the way of a lot of U. S citizens getting married. The other option is universal healthcare, or leaving to another country all together. As long as disabled people are at risk of losing benefits, full marriage equality does not exist in the United States. The fight for marriage equality for disabled people is not over yet.

He's such a nice guy, and has overcome so very much. However, in first dates where someone has a disability, I think the other person is considering what this will mean in terms of future health problems and the need for care. They are young, and if someone disabled should have an accident or in his case, another stroke, what would this mean to the wife, who is in her 20's and thinking about a life being a caregiver. This is a realistic concern. They have a choice of choosing someone disabled or not disabled. It doesn't seem fair, but there are those who don't think that much about it, and are willing to pick up whatever is needed ongoing, because they don't see it as a burden.

I know a PSW who has a daughter that met a man who is visually impaired. The PSW who works with people with disabilities and seniors all day is so freaked out, angry, disgusted and vocal about her disapproval, that her daughter won't speak to her. Even though his a a good education & career, she thinks he'll be a burden most of his life. I was shocked to hear her yelling about it.

I have cerebral palsy, and I can FEEL every second of this. The chance for rejection is sooooo much higher. You're intellectually aware that you are disabled; but your heart doesn't care. It just wants to be loved and to be found attractive by someone that you find equally attractive. I hope he's found someone.

Rafi your not wrong societies WRONG me and you and the rest of us disabled people (if you can-t tell I have autism adhd ocd sensory integration auditory processing disorder asthma etc) deserve love and affect with a potential mate partner girl/boy friend etc.

I wonder if they kept dating or just became friends? He seems really nice and he's very handsome. I do think it was a bad idea for him to ask if she would continue seeing him because of course she will say yea since she got put on the spot.

Dude got completely friend zoned and I can-t help but feel like his speech impediment made her visibly uncomfortable: ( she can-t help how she feels but it-s a shame bc she probably rejected him after this ep and he didn-t seem to notice

He's cute. Can he wash dishes? At this point that's all I care about because if I wash one more dish someone will dye. I spelled like that cause of the guidelines.
