Why can't we raise our dolls as 'real children'? - my extraordinary family

Yeah this is definitely going to damage your kids wether you see it now or not. I would love for a follow up interview with your daughters in 10years too see if they are okay. I hope they are not carrying around reborn dolls or introducing them them too their middle school and high school friends as their siblings because kids are mean and example; your daughters friend goes back and tells everyone at school after a overnight at your house, how weird your family is and how you guys have dolls as their -siblings-! That's all it will take to tare your live childrens lives apart and the bullying WILL HAPPEN, from the other children that go to their schools, especially middle school and junior high. So maybe take a look forward on really how this may effect your real children and do it a little differently. Like when they aren't home you and your husband can have your doll time and when the girls are home, no dolls, but the ones your kids play with. They are still young enough you can un normalize this for them and explain when they are older that when they are at school or a friend's or grandma's, you and dad get the newborn dolls out and pretend their your other children for fun. But yeah this can mess up their well being if you don't handle it right. Making having dolls normal to your kids at this age in their lives can make them outcast, even if that wasn't your intentions, that will happen. Not maybe, but when, what grade? Please rethink doing this all the time on the regular because it is not a good outcome, I'm telling you.

Can-t believe some of those comments reborns and reborn doll collecting and roll playing is no different than a regular hobby going to the gym golf football tennis walking going shopping playing video games basketball horse riding bike riding and l loved playing dolls as a child only child just a shame my mother didn-t play with me like you play with your daughters and to teach them role play and responsibility hopefully they don-t end up teenage mums because they are taught it-s a lot of work taking care of a doll l have just got back into dolls this time reborn dolls as l couldn-t have children but people said when l was a teenager it was time to grow up and be responsible and not play with kids toys and be an adult l love wat l do with my baby reborn dolls and buying them clothes and role play and taking photos and dressing them things we couldn-t afford when l was a kid do wat you love doing and love you videos

Calling them her daughters is a bad sign. The difference between a hobby and an obsession is that it doesn-t take over your life and this is bordering on obsessive. Collecting them for their beauty and appreciating how intricately they-re made makes sense. Reacting to dolls like they-re alive when you-re a healthy, differentiated adult is a sign of a bigger issue. If they have this much love to give it-s unfortunate they don-t foster actual children in need. I was a group home manager for 14 years and making a difference in someone-s life who needs extra support is a very healing and gratifying experience. There are 3 million kids waiting for adoption in the U. S. who would love to have this level of TLC.

I held a Grogu doll in my arms for just a moment and it permanently altered my brain chemistry so yeah I can imagine what that would be like holding something that looks and feels identical to a baby lol. No problem with playing or finding comfort in toys and dolls, it-s super therapeutic and apparently doctors recommend people play any chance they get, whether that-s drawing, building a puzzle, cuddling a teddy bear, whatever suits your tastes!

If I was one of their kids I would grow up thinking why did they spend time with that little doll when they could have spent it with me. I would have a lot of unresolved issues and probably anger with that. I don't think it's right to indulge in this way because it's neglecting the real children. I hope they find happiness and hopefully substitute this hobby for something else

People who do not understand reborns will never understand the hobby or the therapy behind them. I use mine for pain therapy. Playing with them can occupy your mind and keep you from thinking of the things that may traumatize you such as chronic daily pain. People need to research before making such harsh comments about something that doesn-t hurt them.

However, when you put yourselves out on the internet and tell everyone how you have chosen to live your lives, then expect a percentage of backlash in regard to the absurdity of treating inanimate objects as sentient beings. i feel the need to respond on this wonderful video, i'm born with a dissability, and not able to be a parent, the world is becoming such a violent place, and i feel sick, sick about people who are judgemental and small minded.
i've got 2 lifelike dolls myself and a stroller, and i'm proud to be brave to embrace my feelings.

Honestly. These reborn dolls look so realistic nowadays that it can be therapeutic for some people. I actually made my own when I didn-t think I would ever get pregnant. I didn-t do all this stuff with the doll, just painted it, put it together and put an outfit on. I considered it to be art - expensive art -
