AN advocate of changing all things -negative into positive-, James McLeod, 39, lives in New York and was born with Vitiligo on one side of his face. Growing up he says: -Vitiligo was a nightmare- and that he was afraid to look at himself in the mirror as he thought his reflection -was a monster. - That was until his mother-s affirming words to him one day caused him to change his perspective about being different and instead, hold his head high. This resulted in James writing two children-s books as he aspires to encourage and inspire kids who have endured similar experiences to overcome their hardship

I was born with something called lamellar icthyosis where the skin cells regenerate too quickly and it peels off so I had it pretty mild, but you could still see it on my neck real bad and little spots on my face where my glasses would sit. It also look like I had dandruff in my hair because it was constantly coming out of my scalp. To top it all off I was a runt. I'm still short to this day. I know what it was like to be tormented because of your skin. Now I'm a confident young woman who's gotten most of it under control.

I have vitiligo, I use to get asked those questions about my skin, - did you get burned-? I wish I did not have it, but I do mine did not hit me until I was 37 yrs. old so it mentally effected me, I suffer from -SAD- ( social anxiety disorder) it is just now effecting my hair color ( my eyebrows) but I will say I do color them back to their natural color. You are inspiring - -

The best teacher I had in high school had vitiligo. He never seemed bothered and nobody ever asked him about it. My suspicion that he had the condition was only confirmed after I asked him why he was practically emptying an entire bottle of sunscreen on every inch exposed skin. Apparently people with vitiligo burn easier

The differences make us unique whether they are visible or not. Each of us must find in them and decide how to perceive them. There is always a double view. -That makes me a terrible person or that makes me a special person. - Every person who can find his value in himself is admirable. -

Just came across this young man's live on TT & his energy is amazing! Had to watch his docu & I love this story! I wish him ALL the best, I love a person who takes the Bull by the horns & refuses to let society break them. What a beautiful spirit- Can't wait to see what he does next!

There is a way to reduce it and maybe make it go away. Being that It-s an autoimmune disorder, we can help that disorder that mostly comes from our gut health. Look up the book, the Plant Paradox. Dr Gundry talks about and how to heal it. I have it too. I love this message!

i know you can't really relate to the struggles if you don't have vitiligo but i'd feel like a superhero. to me, it is one of the coolest looking things ever. not looking -normal- and standing out, is beauty to me.

Looks cool as f in his child pictures. Apparently you can get some type of therapy to make it go away kind of. If he did that he shouldn't have because it looked awesome.

Obviously every body will think something happened to his face because people who happened something to their faces look like him and because of that: it is ok.

He has a great attitude! I think it's so interesting to see how the Vitiligo has changed over his life. I'm hypnotized by his awesome beard, too.

He's such an inspiration for everyone! I can totally see him doing motivational speaking all over the United States and beyond! Way to go!
