These women reveal how they dealt with excess skin after losing so much weight marcia: My sister and I both have gone thru weight loss the past few years, close in weight but we both carried weight differently her being bottom heaven I carried my weight in the upper. We both lost differently, while she counted calories and had a great exercise plan, I fasted and changed my diet by eliminating processed foods, white foods including sugar. She took the surgery route for skin removal face lift, and arms from wrist to armpit. I used face exercises and achieved close to the same results. My arms do have saggy skin but in time it's getting better with stretches and light exercise. She was told by several Dr's the only way to be rid of the saggy skin was surgery. I thought she was impatient and unable to waste any more time by her long time infliction of weight gain stigma. She is still dealing with issues from surgery in different areas but she has no regrets for the most part. I lost faith in the Heathcare system decades ago, I am happy with doing it with out intervention of medical agenda. Point being we have options and no one knows your body better than ourselves. Good rule of thumb is we are what we eat and variety is the spice of life! The internet has given us a wealth of knowledge, don't be afraid to use it!

I stopped weighing myself at 325 pounds, it was depressing. Eventually I decided to lose weight when I was diagnosed with Diabetes, that was my health wakeup call. I'm down to 218 and my goal is 136 pounds, because that will get me out of the overweight/obese BMI chart number. One of my major concerns was the extra skin because my insurance won't cover the removal and I can't afford to get it done. My current struggle is clothing, I went from a US size 28 to sizes 10-16(depending on the design. I can't afford to keep replacing my clothing. That wasn't something I put thought into. But I wouldn't choose to go back.
Anyone on their weight loss journey, you can do it, don't give up on you.

I don-t suggest eating sweet potatoes they raise your insulin. And as far as the other vegetables, they-re full of oxalates. I have an excellent issue, and I don-t even eat vegetables. Vegetables are fairy inflammatory and cause me massive joint pain. Anything that raises your insulin is going to cause you to retain and grow fat. Your success is amazing but it doesn-t work for everybody that way. Vegetables cause a lot of distress on the body. We need more protein than anything. It-s actually ancestral and that-s how we ate. We didn-t eat every day and we didn-t eat several times a day.

I have a eating disorder even though I've never been diagnosed with one from the Dr. I love food and there's time's i eat when I'm depressed or if I'm happy or just bored. I lost both of my legs below the knees 6 years ago and I'm not active as i used to be and I weigh about 260 pounds right now I just started back at the gym and I'll be going pretty steady and then something always happens and as of right now I've missed the last 3 weeks but I'm not going to give up I'm going to start back going to the gym in the morning and try to clean up my diet drastically!

I weighed almost 400 pounds. Now I'm full of excess skin. I am down to 235. I have to have surgery to remove the skin. For the same reason doctors want to do gastric bypass, they want to do skin removal. It's vascular care, so you don't get cancers or other heart related conditions. It's even more important if you already have heart conditions. So, yeah, I can relate to all this.

If a person commits to losing that much weight and actually pulls it off, then I feel that insurance should cover skin removal surgery. 1. Because, statistically the person has drastically reduced their lifetime costs to the insurance company 2. Because thaat much loose skin chafes and forms dangerous sores, so it is a legitimate health concern that needs treatment.

When I see people with loose skin, I think of two things. Number one, these people lose weight too quickly. Number two, they are not consuming foods that help boost autophagy. Autophagy helps tighten the skin and correct muscle waste. That's how a person can get rid of loose skin within a couple of years. If you folks do not want loose skin, lose the weight slowly.

I think if someone Commits to becoming healthier and works so hard. and STAYS the course. I wish that the skin surgery would be covered with a program. like a Reward for Making such a positive and great decision. Regardless. all these women are inspiring. I have never been obese but I've had food issues in my life. They're tuff

The most frustrating part of losing a big amount of weight is not being able to enjoy your success and you should be so proud of yourself, I'm in that area right now I lost 80 lb, I went to my goal weight of 125 and I hate my body i feel like an unsightly freak of nature

I-ve been so scared to get skin removal surgery I went from 316 pounds to 170 in four years on my own exercising and eating right I don-t mind my loose skin but I-m just so scared of the surgery. I don-t know if I-ll ever have the courage to do it.

I've just started on my weight-loss journey. I'm wondering, though, how can someone afford to have the excess skin removed? It's very expensive. I'm looking forward to meeting my goal in my weight loss, but I'm not looking forward to the loose skin.

I stopped eating processed foods in Jan of this year (2023. My goal was to not have to take any medications. I have lost 48 pounds just by eating real food. I can relate with everything she is saying. I am still dealing with the loose skin.

Any diet will work if you get rid of processed foods. Even vegetarian without protein, but you can-t do that for longevity. There are amino acids, and so many other nutrients you-re missing. Vegetables have very few bioavailable nutrients.

Seems like there was a lot more fat loss to go for these amazing women; might-ve been able to see the skin shrink to an acceptable amount if they hit a lower body fat %. 200+ pounds is still pretty obese for an average 5. 5 foot woman.

That's gotta be disheartening, seeing the flying squirrel suit and thinking all that hard work for THIS? I looked better fat, etc etc. So what's the deal, does it ever go away, or do you have to get it surgically removed?

Thanks for sharing. I'm currently on my weight loss journey. I was 282 lbs. I made a vow to myself to lose 2lbs a week for a year. So far, I've lost 20. 4 lbs! Stay encouraged and I will, too. Sending love and light.

I was 280, dropped to 197 and crept back up to 240. I decided to get back on the wagon. I had a trash weekend and over ate but that-s okay l, I just gotta keep going
reply

Not to mention the -loose face--. how old is this lady? She looked 26 when she was 420 lb, but 45 now. Edit: same question for the Second Lady- she looks -sick- now
reply

Put things in perspective when you can layer clothes up to your old size. I feel like people can visualize it a little better that way. I don't know.
reply

I heard there was a way that dr can write it to get it covered by insurance. Rashes n skin infections difficult with movement etc. I thought

Medical insurance should pay for weight loss patients to get reconstructive surgery. It's not cosmetic. Their skin is painful and it's limiting.

Stephen from A healthy alternative lost 200lbs no lose skin from fasting. only way Inhave seen ppl with no loose skin from losing over 100lbs
reply

Dr. Mindy Pelz has helped me drop 24 in 6 weeks. The autophagy fasting helps the skin shrink along side the weight loss. -

Anybody can have skin removal surgery? Really? 7 billion people don't have the money for elective plastic surgery.
