The 'karate' teen with butterfly skin - born different

A TEEN who was predicted to live up to just three days by doctors is outliving the expectations and challenges of his condition. Mohammed Fazeel Irfan, 16, was born with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa - commonly known as EB. Due to the immense amount of pain and blistering of his skin, he has to triple think about doing a basic thing such as turning over in bed and waking up to a quite unconventional morning routine of skin wrapping, which most days, takes about five hours to complete. Despite the trials that come with his condition, Mohammed is a bubbly, down to earth and ambitious character who is passionate about bringing awareness and hopefully one day, a cure to EB

I-m a Tang Soo Do Student in my 3rd year & final belt rank before black belt -. I have physical difficulties that make some days harder & limits what I can do in class. It-s not impossible. I just have to do things a bit differently and modify so I can continue to learn and grow as a person.
I get what he-s going thru just a little bit.
His school is like mine with the - you can do it! - attitude, support, welcoming to everyone, , teaching everyone to defend themselves, growing character, learning respect for everyone, & being surrounded by the best community you could ask for! -

I was wincing in pain when I was watching this (not out of cruelty) and I was amazed and impressed at how his karate sensei has modified the curriculum to help suit his condition. I myself am an orange, black stripe (though I am going up for 8th kyu in two weeks) in Kyokushin karate and my respect for both Fazeel and his sensei are enormous.

Watch documentary about marrow bone transplantation taken from close relative. I can't find link, but I watched on yt recently. There is a cure for kids with EB. They have to do hemo first, so it's down side and from 13 kids doing treatment, 2 died and 10 was cured with very good and fast results.

I have seen videos of a lot of kids and grown-ups, struggling with E B, and it just looks like the most absolute painful disease that you could ever imagine. He-s my hero. - And his mom to because I-m a mom and I can-t imagine having to watch my child go through that every day.

Oh my goodness - so mature and so eloquent. Puts my worries about a bit of acne into perspective-
Problem is with less common illnesses, they don-t get the attention or the investment in research that they so deserve. Fingers crossed things starts a change-

You are an inspiration to us all Fazeel. Thank you to you, and Truly, for helping to raise awareness of the painful genetic skin condition, EB, also known as 'Butterfly Skin'. -

It makes no sense do karate cause if someone try to attack or something ur little body can't take anything at all. just exercise and rest well I think karate is his thing so

I guess I can-t complain about having 8 layers of skin. Sure, it can be flaky and painful if removed, but takes far more friction to come off and I don-t get infections.
