The conjoined twins who were separated - born different

Meet the remarkable families who separated their conjoined twins in this Born Different special. Producer: Tom Buckman LordMekanicus: We are all human aferall, not a scrap of difference between us.
I remember about 1986, I was riding in the work truck with my grandpa and his foreman Kay. At a stoplight we saw a depressed young woman pushing a stroller, about six months pregnant, and fighting muscular dystrophy. Kay rolled down the window, banged on the door skin, waved and called out -Hey there Beautiful! - She perked up, smiled, blushed, and walked a little happier.
-Didn't cost me anything, but do you see what it did for her? - Said Kay to me.
Even about a decade ago I wandered into a big boxer, and an aisle over from me I heard a guy berating an employee for being incapable, incompetent, and who should never have been hired, so I looked.
This big dude was ripping on a little gal in a power chair. I couldn't take it.
I walked over just loud enough for everyone to hear me coming, put my arm around her shoulder, and leaned in. -Play along- I whispered, faked a kiss on her head. -Hey Beautiful! Everything alright? - I said.
-They shouldn't have hired someone like her! - The guy popped.
-They shouldn't have let someone like you in here. -
He left in a huff, she broke down, cried, and hugged me for a long time.
Every time I am in that store now, both my wife and I look for her. Mainly to say HI and converse. We caught her one time with another jerk of a customer, and she ripped him apart and called security for his behavior.
Point is, you never know the impact you can have on someone's life by simply being there, or by making a simple gesture, until you have done it. We are only human afterall, treat all like human beings.

Weird relationship. Feels like one sister lacks empathy, feels superior and resents her sister. I've heard that it happens with twins, but it is so sad to see. One sister is so beaten down, she will thrive now, away from her mean sister. Good luck, honey! You are amazing. Empathy will take you further and in better relationships. Don't doubt yourself, you are not worse than your sister. Her ego is fragile, she tries to cover with being mean and loud. Do not confront her, it would not bring anything. Live happy. You are amazing.

Mackenzie, if you read this, I hope you're able to build your self-esteem. Of course you're worthy of a good man and a healthy, loving relationship! Don't settle for less! You have a lot to offer! You're independent, able to swim, intelligent, beautiful, and brave. A lot of people would be afraid to go to a college without their sibling and to let themselves be filmed in such a personal way. I wish you and your sister much happiness and success!

If you ask most people born with challenges if they regret being born into this world most of them would say no. Don-t judge a parent on their choices to give their kids a fighting chance. Looks to me like these amazing girls were brought into this world and raised by amazing families. They have amazing outlooks on their lives and futures. Amazing young women

Lovely girls, all of them. I have twins and I agree with what the girls say here about being different - just because you are a twin does not mean you will be alike. I hope they all have wonderful lives and they come from such loving families which is half the battle. They are definitely better separated than not.

I love this message that you are spreading about awareness for people who have disabilities, but something about the title -Born Different- just doesn't sit right with me. I think that everyone in these videos are -normal- as some would put it. I just don't think it's right to say different. :)

For some reason my mind was saying -that-s cool that they can get 1 pair of pants and then cut it in half and perfect 1 for left leg and the other for the others right leg sweet - - but then thought for 2 seconds lol ya wouldn-t work because they both still have 2 hips I-m an idiot

I am so curious how they split the girls with 1 bladder. I had my bladder removed due to Interstitial Cystitis. I wonder if 1 got a urostomy bag. They didn-t mention that if so. So, I am wondering if they each got half the bladder (augmented) That would be cool!

Hearing these stories I thought about how strong these parents are. Having twin boys myself being a twin parent is already alot of work then to add the conjoined part to it with the all the hospital stays. They made me realized that I will get through it

This is great. Like, just great. All around just great great great great. I just keep crying and shaking my head. It brings my heart so much joy that these beautiful children are able to be so happy in spite of their differences. -----

knowing the girls in high-school are not experiencing bullying is so refreshing. people there are not absolute low life's. Like people who question the mother for deciding to keep her babies. They are all so blessed

These 6 young ladies are amazing! I want to leave all of them with this Harry Potter quote. -It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. -

All of these beautiful young people ARE inspirational, strong, amazing, and yes, more than worthy of anyone's love. I really enjoyed learning their and their parent's stories

You guys are by far the most beautiful girls on the planet. Not just on the outside. You overcome. Which is so awesome. Good luck at college!

I would like to know if conjoined twins who have been separated ever have phantom feelings or pain like amputees often do?
reply

What happened to Macey & Mackenzie's triplet Madelyn? I watched their story from birth, and they had a triplet.
reply

Omg the fact people even dare to ask why you bring these children into the world. They are whole human beings.

They are both beautiful ladys and God made you the way he loves you both - don't ever let anyone let you down
