LEECIE was a burgeoning model on Sydney's tattoo modelling scene when an accident at work in 2016 left her with a spinal injury. Suddenly, she was faced with a revolving door of problems, as her injury affected her mobility and she turned to food as a coping mechanism. The vicious cycle Leecie found herself in led to her rapidly gaining weight, reaching over 300lbs at her heaviest. However, brands started noticing her on social media and, before she knew it, she was making a name for herself as a plus-size model. Leecie never quite felt comfortable though - Coming into the spotlight in a body that didn't feel like my own was quite jarring - and when she went on holiday with her mum and saw herself in the photos from their trip, that was the wake-up call that motivated her to make wholesale lifestyle changes when she got home. Leecie immediately went to see her GP, who agreed that she needed to lose weight for the sake of her health and she was referred to a bariatric surgeon. After having surgery, she joined a gym and developed a healthy exercise and food routine with expert help from a PT and nutritionist. Incredibly, she cut her weight in half, dropping from 140kg to 70kg. Since then, she's received judgement from many in the plus-size community, who felt betrayed by her weight loss - and while she understands their rejection of her, that hasn't stopped her showcasing her new look to inspire others whilst also just enjoying her new lease of life: It's given me a whole sense of confidence, I realise how strong I am as a person now

I'm overweight (size 16. What you've done is a great achievement. Being very overweight is just bad for your health. Period. I used to be in the army and then I trained a martial art for over twenty years. It was very rigorous, and I was fit but not small even so. But kidney failure which I've had most of my life finally caught up with me in the end so I can no longer train and so the weight crept up. I don't have diabetes, which is a good thing, and I am in out of hospital a fair bit, twice this month plus I've had problems with my hips (too many years sitting in dialysis chairs. You've done what's best for you. Ignore the haters; they're likely jealous and were never there for you in the first place. They obviously need cheer leaders to make them feel good about themselves. They're all in denial but it's obviously a safe place to be for them. Keep up the great work!

I hate that we now live in a society where we get hated on for simply wanting to take action to feel better about ourselves. We're seen as the enemy if we actually do something to look better, like dieting or surgery. I get so fed up with people telling me that 'Im not being kind to myself' when I say I want to lose weight. I just tell them that dieting so I dont have to wear my 'fat' outfit to parties or spend the evening in the toilets hiding away feeling sh-t about myself IS being kind to myself! Next they'll make dieting illegal, ban gyms and plastic surgery and force us all to be overweight and miserable. I wont let anyone make me feel guilty for wanting to feel good about myself!

Those people rather than being inspired by someone that was in their shoes and actually managed to turn her life around instead decided to hate. She learned a valuable lesson that with success comes haters. People like to -support- you when you're in a lower or worse place in your life than they are, but once you start to get better and succeed to the point where you're moving past them - that's when the support stops and then you hear things like oh she thinks she's better than us.
The sad truth is if you have 40 friends only 2 of them will be happy for you.
We are living in a Cain and Abel society.
Be careful who you share your good news with.

Their reaction is very telling-if they really were so happy with their own weight as the body positivity movement says they should, they wouldnt be jealous of someone who's now thin. Maybe if more research was put into ways to help obese people to lose weight rather than getting them to gaslight themselves into thinking its great then they might really be happy. It seems sad that the only option available to someone unhappy with their looks is to simply learn to accept it-I wonder if they ever actually really do? This reaction would suggest they dont.

I was just thinking the other day as one who has gained and lost about 4 times in 20 years and 209 at my highest at size 18 when I looked in the mirror, I was mortified. When I saw a picture of me, I was mortified. I immediately put on keto and last three sizes. I don-t understand how people look in the mirror and see themselves and are OK with it. I-m glad that when you looked in the mirror you said that is not OK.

What a great achievement your health is everything. I had two heart attacks and a triple bypass from 2016 to 2020. I'm not tall 160cm and I weighed 80 kilos at the time of my bypass. I have now lost 22 kilos and gained my health back. Most of my family and friends supported me, but there were a small few who were sarcastic and negative. but that's OK. I did it for myself, my wife and children not for others.

The plus size community should be aware of what they are doing. They reject somebody because of her slimmer looks and actually because of her weight. Lot of plus size people always complain about society rejecting them because of their heigh weight. Seems they are doing the same in reverse.

I think you having the bariatric surgery could have been seen as the easy way out. It's a surgery that many people can't afford. I can afford it but always felt that if circumstances were -normal- then I could loose the weight no problem. We'll see if I still feel this way in two years time.

Girl I can relate. Twice in my life I've been obese. Once when I was having medical issues and then after having my son. Looking back at old photos i definitely don't recognize myself in them. I never felt myself overweight. I don't miss being hot either! You look beautiful I'm happy for you

I-m happy she was able to find herself again. It-s sad that people are happy to watch you fail but offended to see you succeed. Good for her! I hope she knows there are plenty of people like me that are cheering her success! Stories like hers keep me continuing on my health journey.

I'm jealous that she kept her boobs after the weight loss. When I loose weight, the first things to go are my butt and my boobs, which are the only things I actually want to keep-. But anyway, good for you girl! Do what's best for you. Haters gonna hate.
reply

It-s like they say, damn if you do and damn if you don-t. Why can-t people just be happy for others as you want others happy.
What I am learning in this season of my life is don-t seek others approval and do you and what makes you happy.

You can never see how big you really are, you, somehow, adjust to it. I'm fat and I know it, but I was very suprised when I realized that one fabric I saw hanging on a wire to dry, was not a bed sheet but my own, very tight, shirt! --

So one of the benefits of her weight loss is that she has reduced the pain associated with her spinal injury and the yet the body positivity movement can-t stand for this? The nerve of this woman wanting to be healthy and feel better.

The best part about a girl that goes from that big to that small. Is the booty 0: ) That thing is jello. Of course her health is probably the correct answer but you know. I am just being cheeky so please don't cancel me whiny people
reply

I didn't hurt myself. I didn't weigh too much but i did go through a fitness transformation. Its hard to stay consistent at times. You go through stress depression. But good for her. Its an amazing experience. Will change your life.

It's ridiculous to bash someone for losing weight and getting healthier. This isn't the first time the fat acceptance mop attacked someone. A little while back they trolled Lizzo for a video of her on an exercise bike. -

Well done. I'm 65kg trying to get to 50kg, at only 4. 10 height. If I was 6ft at 65kg I'd probably look really sick. Obviously the shorter one is the bigger u look, at this height the chart indicates im obese lol.
reply

Trolled for LOSING weight? Guess the body confidence movement has gone a smidge too far when you're seen as toxic for wanting to get healthier. Either way it seems you can't win. There's always gonna be negativity
reply

You-re a complete disaster for the bear body positivity. Crowd. All that hard work you did and it paying off in more ways than you can value today.
Awesome job. It-s a lifestyle and we only have one life.

Basically todays 'love yourself as you are' mantra too often means 'be lazy, let yourself go, dont make any effort whatsoever to improve yourself and then get mad when people dont find you attractive. '
reply

I'm proud of you. You're an inspiration. I went from gym bunny to wheelchair user. Unable to exercise and bed ridden at times. Life is fluid and there are many phases and changes along the way.

How wonderful for this person! She probably feels so amazing! As a Gen Xer, I'm glad I didn't have social media and the FA crowd around when I was young. Things could have been way worse for me!

Our liberal society push plus+ size women as a health weight if that was true why most of Hollywood women are slim or normal weight. I always say if a women have max 25% body fat. Your fine.
reply

She has no loose skin! Amazing! She looks awesome. Forget those haters who unfollowed her. That's such a twisted mentality! Her accomplishment is something to celebrate, not shame.
reply

I'm actually surprised Truly decided to upload this video with the trolls being the -fat acceptance- activists. Truly and those activists both lean towards progressive-ism.
reply

She looks great but she should focus and picking up a little mass to be tone. She should also do reverse lunges to give that saggy booty a lift. Dead-s and squats help to
reply

She looks amazing. I wonder what world we are living in where people online won't support a person for losing weight. Just wow. No wonder we have an obesity crisis.
reply

I think you did a Fantastic job and are a great roll model for women of all sizes. You prove you can do it even with a Back injury. Keep up the good work!
reply

She's beautiful at both sizes. The important thing is for you to be happy and comfortable in your skin. If your not happy you got to fix things.
