KANISHA was just four years old when her family home caught on fire, tragically taking two of her brothers' lives. While Kanisha survived the accident, she sustained burns to 60% of her body. Speaking to Truly, she explained: I also was burned down to the third layer of my skull, so I am able to grow my hair back. I lost an ear lobe and they had to take fingers from both hands as they were so badly burned. For Kanisha, her life-changing injuries meant that she was subjected to cruel taunts in the playground. Kids were mean, they were bullies. They would pull my wigs off. I was never called by my first name. I was called 'the burned girl' or 'the girl with the lizard skin', she explained. The negative comments knocked Kanisha's confidence and she admitted, They made me feel like the world was a very cruel place. Because no matter how happy or how much I tried to boost myself up, when I went out into the world, people were still staring. However, when Kanisha became a mum, her kids totally changed her perspective on her appearance. She explained: When your own children are born, they don't notice your scars. They know mum just how she was. So I stopped paying attention to my scars after that. In this episode of Shake My Beauty, we'll hear about Kanisha's journey and how accepting - and celebrating - how she looks, has totally transformed her life. Reflecting, Kanisha said: You are you and that's what makes you beautiful

we had a kid who suffered full thickness burns over 80% of his body when we were kindergartners, i remember i was scared of him at first (i was maybe 4-5) but when i noticed people were calling him names i spoke up and said his name is Billy. we became friends for a long time, once we got older he told me he was burned in a accident after a gas can fell over while he was in the garage with his father, there was a flame somewhere that caused the explosion. he was not even two, after elementary school we lost touch, i hope he is doing alright

I can't imagine the pain this beautiful woman went through when she was a child and the grief of loosing her siblings on top of it all and she has overcame all of that and become and sweet, loving absolutely gorgeous woman! I hope she knows how beautiful she truly is and how she is a absolute super woman for all she has endured and overcome!

Learnt? Really?
edit: I'm not poking fun at her pronunciation. I'm referring to the fact that they spelled Learnt instead of Learned in the actual thumbnail (unless they update it later.
edit#2: Apparently learnt is the British past tense of learn. I guess I learnt something new today, lol. In the US, we're taught learned.

I scroll and sometimes things come across my timeline I happen to click on them because I know God put it in my path to show me to be grateful for everything. After seeing this what can I complain for? May God ease this woman's soul all the days of her life

Fire is absolutely terrifying

It INFURIATES me that kids were allowed to bully her so bad. That breaks my heart.
