Why Can't Our Kids Live With XL Bullies? My extraordinary family

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
THE DUARTES are XL bully breeders hailing from California. Parents Wayne and Johanna share their home with their three kids; Sherlene, Selena and Samuel, as well as their beloved breeding bullies; Hussle, Choko and Athena. They pride themselves on being a family focused breeder and their business social media pages are plastered with photos and videos of their tiny children interacting with their large, powerful dogs. Wayne admits: bullies are very strong, and in the hands of the wrong person just like any dog they can do damage, but asserts that his own dogs are harmless. The family have encountered a lot of judgement online with people saying bullies are dangerous animals bred to kill and I wouldn t trust one like that around my kids for all the tea in China. Wayne responds: I trust my dog to take care of my kid more than I would a human being, and expresses his controversial theory that many of the XL bully attacks that make the news are probably not pure breed bullies, it s probably just a mix. With the recent UK breed ban hot on everyone's minds, the family worry about the future of the breed and advocate for keeping it legal. They ve already convinced Wayne s dad who was initially sceptical, and the Duartes won t stop trying to persuade the masses that the bully breed are really just gentle giants

Everyone tries to claim it's just bad owners until it happens to them. When faced with labeling themselves as bad owners, that's usually when they finally see what everyone else is talking about--no more rationalization. This family should have a stranger act nervous/scared and run away from the dogs, to see just how cuddlebug they are. That's the important test. It's great that they're teaching their kids how to behave around dogs, but what about their kids' friends? Random neighbors? Other dogs? They can't train everyone to avoid triggering a dog's protective instincts, and unless they are both full-time dog trainers who have made this their sole ambition, they can't reasonably lower the risk that a dog will act on those instincts when a particularly strong trigger arises, even if the dog is only trying to be playful. It doesn't matter if a human does everything wrong or is asking for it: if a dog seriously injures someone, the dog is dangerous and the (bad) owner is responsible. Why invite the risk at all? What is the relative benefit over a breed that is less capable of brutality? I don't get it. Get a pet hippo instead, they don't eat people very often!

dogs are animals, without training they're wild animals, with training they're basically just children. it is the owner's responsibility to instill a sense of morality in their dogs, if done right a dog is basically just a harmless furry child, if not done at all a dog is a very dangerous animal. bigger breeds are more able to fulfil their dangerous tendencies due to being able to overpower most full-grown adults and just go do anything they want. a poodle could equally as dangerous but it's very easy to hold one back so it'll be overlooked. we've just banned this breed in the Uk and its embarrassing as it just shows most people buying this breed couldn't train their dog, sad as I would've liked to have owned one at some point.

We have 125 lb full bred American Bulldog. We got him when our daughter was just a small kindergartener. Our extended family were worried, it s been 5 years now and everyone loves him and he s never shown anything but love for children. maybe too much love sometimes lol he thinks he s a lap dog. I don t see anything wrong with this family having these dogs if trained right.

I love dogs but I unlocked a new fear after my sis, who works as a trauma nurse, told me about the children who d get rushed in because the family dog turned on them. And these weren t even pit bulls, just large breed dogs. I won t say for certain that these dogs will do the same but the potential is there, especially given the number of dogs.

They are beautiful dogs & family members that are so miss understood. This family is doing a great job on how you interact and treat the 4 legged family members. Keep up the excellent work you are doing.
People if you don t have something nice & encouraging to say keep those negative comments to yourself. This family is educating you.

You know the dog won t hurt a fly when it s a cuddle bug just like they are. Respect for each other (human & animal) is also important. Even the little guy playing with the dog it s visible how gentle the dog is. The family seems to watch the kids with the dogs around and I hope they won't leave them alone.

These dogs have obviously been trained and raised right. After all the bad press about XL bullys lately it s so nice to see positive stories about them. But I would still supervise children are around XL bullys for the simple fact that they are big and strong dogs, they could do some serious damage

The kid looked a bit afraid when the dog sat next to him at the sofa: /

Most dogs are good as long as you know what you are doing, know how to raise them. Not all breeds are for all people. A rottweiler for example like I have is to be avoided if you are not living a active lifestyle.

My son has a Staffordshire/ pitbull dog, he is 14 now & the most friendliest dog going, like you when he walks him, people say keep your dog away from mine. He ignores it as he knows oscar is not a threat to anyone. My son says its not the dog but the owners that teach them that cause harm

If I seen these dogs out and about Id be so excited to meet them. I love dogs and would be wanting to love them all over. Dont be scared of Chihuahuas I have 4 and they love everyone Its the tiniest of them that can become defensive. Everything looks so big and scary to them.

Gorgeous dogs
The main thing is teaching kids how to behave around dogs
I volunteer at a rescue and honestly have been more scared of the small dogs
One pitbull mix attacked me by pinning me to a chair smothering me with kisses and ear nibbles

I think it s really about teaching your children how to treat dogs, especially ones that are massive & powerful. They are growing up with them so these dogs are will be more protective of anything. It s just being responsible.

I brought hussle in my home I was a total stranger and he behaved like nothing happened he has excellent temperament people are always so quick to judge also he played with all my dogs and my kids including a 1 year old

That dog won t make you taller, bro. Also, while it s true that not all of that breed are dangerous, how many cocker spaniels have devoured kids? Why risk it? Also, again, to be clear. Little Man Syndrome

The vast majority of fatal dog attacks (90%) in America involve bully breeds and children/old people. I'm sure a lot of the people that owned those dogs though they were sweetie pies.
reply

It s about the human teaching over the dog type. Any dog can be aggressive. Parents need to teach children how to be around dogs. All dogs have a breaking point like us.
reply

They are bullies but one of the dogs have their ears cropped and i dont understand if you love dogs you wouldn't crop their ears, one of the dogs doesn't look neutered either,

Great Job guys for being a true ambassador of the American Bully. Not a lot of people know that the pure bread American Bully s are bread to be a family companion.
reply

I've only been attacked and bitten by little dogs whose owners thought it was funny since they can't do any damage, therefore don't train them. Weird double-standard.
reply

You can see how well his dad raised Wayne. Why do good people always get unnecessary hate from people who judge without thinking.
