For people speaking against home schooling, it can be done if done properly. My mother was incredible. She was nothing like this woman though and really worked hard to give us a proper education and more. Important life experiences. Life lessons.
I was home-schooled here in Australia for the end of high school and my college years. I did have an illness, chronic fatigue, that resulted in taking me out of school but later during college years, my family travelled around the UK and parts of Europe for a year. It was hard to not learn over there. Language, history, geography. I had a proper course study that I followed from school books but we also visited historical sites and learnt how to speak French, Dutch, German. By the time I was 19, I'd finished my schooling and even though I didn't have any yr 10 or yr 12 certificate. the first job I applied for in Public Relations at a Hospital, I got. I went on to work in Financial Consulting and Sales and at a IT computing company.
No one was ever doubtful in my abilities because I didn't have yr 10 or yr12 certificates and were actually interested in my home schooling days. I owe it all to my Parents, my mum especially. I try my best with my children, they are at school, but we always try learn at home whenever we can. Id love to give them the same experience I had but I still struggle with health issues. Life is just an adventure, you can't not learn something new everyday.

This kids are too young to not learn their basic schooling. My best friend growing up was only home schooled for years 6-12. She took k-5 at the school. Her Father is a University Professor and Mother is a music teacher. Kids in that family are also very smart. I can't imagine pulling kids out of school as a kid. My parents almost sent me to a private school to better my education. I didn't want to leave my friends when I was young. School was very difficult up until I was able to go to out local trade school my last two years. I didn't want to go to college, but my mom said how do you want to make a living without a degree. You'll be stuck as a cashier

I hope she keeps her word and they get a sufficient education. Also with the extra time they have wouldn't they benefit from joining a club/sport/craft instead of shopping or beauty time Social development is a big part of youth and texting their friends is not going to cut it. Sorry mom but ironically I think YOU are the one enclosing your children and placing an agenda on what you think your girls want and not thinking what they want. How are they going to learn for themselves if you are doing everything for them Either way it doesn't really matter I guess since they will be living the easy way of everything being handed to them from mommy.

I’m a former public school teacher and I can acknowledge that public school is just one option. There’s public school, homeschool, charter schools, virtual schools and you can choose one or a combination. Pick what’s best for your family. We choose homeschool with a mix of a bi weekly experiential learning large co-op group for field trips, weekly small group tutoring and daily 2-3 hours of 1-1 or independent learning. That said, this mom onscreen has serious misconceptions about home education.

People have to realize she said they were travelers aka Gypsies. In their culture so to speak most kids are pulled out by 8th grade, and that’s mostly the boys who stay in that late. The truancy officers don’t even bother looking for them because that is their culture so to speak. Do I agree No. But that is the way she was raised and many generations before her. We had travelers in my town and school. It was weird, but it is the way it is.

I'd ask her what the square root of forty nine is.
I'd also ask her what kind of country she lives in. How many continents are in the world What her country's prime minister is. A k a everything you learn in school.
Also I am going to say this point blank if you're making life-changing decisions for your child, it probably would be good for your child if he or she has a say so in that decision, because it is still their life.

My education suffered because I was bullied all the way through school. From both students and teachers. In year 2 I started pretending I was sick so I didn't have to go to school. I finished year 12. I would have been much happier and better off if I had dropped out of school at age 13. Now I earn 6 figures. I totally agree with taking kids out of school before high school.

Children must have education to survive in the world. They are not home schooled but their mother cannot do that. Why do the girls need beauty treatments so very young. They need school, friends and so much more than their drop out mother. Their grandmother is their advocate. There will be no foundation for these children to go to University. They are victims of their mother.

She's wrong. These girls need social interactions with kids their age. Do not rob them of this time in their lives. Here in the United States, we have these Home-schooled kids, NOT all of them, but quite a few who are isolated and don't know how to interact with the outside world. But I will say, some become very independent and successful. But they are the exception.

Let me make this clear. I used to work in Wealth Management, and wealthy people do not buy or wear Gucci, Tom Ford, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, etc. Billionaires don't need name-brand status symbols. Only Nouveau riche and upper-middle-class people who want to impress poor people wear those brands.

Bug and Bunny Coming up with those names is already a crime And she really believes she’s doing the right thing I hope those girls will be taken away, this is abuse. Clearly she’s the type that believes money can buy everything. Disgusting woman

If it works for her then it works for her. As an educator, I see the world so differently. Education is a way for some but many of my students who are flourishing today weren't the ones leaving school as scholars and going to university.

Parents do not always make the smartest decisions regarding they children education. School is not only about education, its where children bond and learn how to deal with certain situations which are beneficial now and in later life.

The mom is only teaching them that they don’t have to do anything that they don’t want to do, even if it is something that would be positive in their lives. She’s just too lazy to get them ready for school in the mornings. Sad

She's teaching them to be dependent on a man. And most likely one that will abuse them because they have no education or money to get away. She's teaching them how to cook and clean. That doesn't help them in any way.

The education system is not perfect, but that does not mean I'm keeping my kids home. This lady is ruining her kids chances of a good future. They have such better chance of being independent with a complete education.

Wow you won't let your children have any friends or get an education, but you're all for using them as slaves that help you cook and clean You control their lives too much, they will end up leaving you soon as they get a chance
