Born on October 13, 1925, in Grantham, England, Margaret Thatcher became Britain's Conservative Party leader and in 1979 was elected prime minister, the first woman to hold the position. During her three terms, she cut social welfare programs, reduced trade union power and privatized certain industries. Thatcher resigned in 1991 due to unpopular policy and power struggles in her party. She died on April 8, 2013, at age 87

You indeed did correctly state that she ran for Parliament and lost in 1950 (at Dartford, and also you correctly stated that she won a seat in Parliament in 1959 (at Finchley. But what you did not state is that she lost again in 1951 (at Dartford.

For an experiment some country should choose women's as pm as Indira Gandhi was in india she too did good things for the country and still we Indians pride so some country should do it as an experiment

Thatcher's father was an independent Liberal. He was of the galdstonian Liberal tradition and what would now be called a fiscal Conservative but he defiantly was not a Conservative politician.

She was an attack on British middle class! Also responsible for the wealth gap to increase at the time!
