In which John Green teaches you about the American Revolution. And the Revolutionary War. I know we've labored the point here, but they weren't the same thing. In any case, John will teach you about the major battles of the war, and discuss the strategies on both sides. Everyone is familiar with how this war played out for the Founding Fathers; they got to become the Founding Fathers. But what did the revolution mean to the common people in the United States? For white, property-owning males, it was pretty sweet. They gained rights that were a definite step up from being British Colonial citizens. For everyone else, the short-term gains were not clear. Women's rights were unaffected, and slaves remained in slavery. As for poor white folks, they remained poor and disenfranchised. The reality is it took a long time for this whole democracy thing to get underway, and the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness weren't immediately available to all these newly minted Americans. Libros: 1-you forget to mention that the revolutionary war was kind of a first american civil war as well, between continentals and -tories-. So, the later american party -whig-. 2-also spain helped usa, but charles III didn't recognize the new nation because it was -dangerous-. 3-equality is prior to freedom. This is Spinoza. We can talk about locke what we want and it is worthy, but the real philosophy that lies behind the new nation USA is that one from Spinoza.

One reason I love Crash Course is because they always try to be non-biased. I hate how in some textbook stories and stuff people intentionally try to lighten up one side and antagonize others, or simply omit or exaggerate some information in order to make the story more dramatic and patriotic.
My favorite line from this video: -Well, Americans like to think that we all pitched in together and got rid of British tyranny, and lived happily ever after. Also that the Continental Army was the bravest, most loyal, and most effective fighting force in human history thanks to the leadership of George Washington. But actually- Well, yeah, let's go to the Thought Bubble. -
Sorry if I offended you. It's just that I'm really offended by bias.

I can't even finish this, you are disrespecting out county. You're mocking them. -A bunch of rich white guys- come on! Even I know that's wrong why are you bringing color into this? So DON'T mock, joke, or make fun of our founding fathers who bled and died for you and this country. They lost their children, wives, and friends in war so we could have a better future. So we could have freedom and liberty. You are one of those people who are destroying our country history and making it seem like a joke.

So America had a flood of Renaissance construction in 1870. How does this happen? We are poor. Then most are gone in 50 years? The story of the Crystal palace in 1853 is not very believable. Speak to the World fairs that just don't make any cents, literally

Unalienable Rights not inalienable. It's a legal document the two words have different meanings and the people who wrote it understood the law and those meanings.

John was so happy that he won the mystery document challenge that I had to watch it multiple time. Victory is yours John Green, victory is yours.

At 11: 56, you say that -While America no longer leads in equality of opportunity, - What do you mean by this? Who does if not the USA?
reply

I beg to differ on the equality of opportunity, we are the only nation in all the world where equality of opportunity truly exists.

Is there any way I can get hold of the scripts for these videos? My instructor is using these videos instead of any history books.
