In this episode of Crash Course Psychology, Hank talks about how we learn by observation. and how that can mean beating the tar out of an inanimate clown named Bobo The: Let me get this straight. A kid sees a lady working Bobo over and then is given fun toys and plays with them until they are taken away. If I were the kid, I would beat on Bobo too. If I enjoy my toys they get taken away, so I know Bobo can take a licking and keep on ticking. So to keep Bobo I guess I have to put the beat down on Bobo.
You have taught me that the only toys I get to keep are the ones that I don't get along with.

We learned this from Socrates when he pointed out that democracy is an illusion of choice made by illiterate plebes who are organized into mob mentalities, lacking the ability to practice critical thought so that none of them have the comprehensive capacity to form any questions outside of what they're told to question.

I do modelling and imitating all the time since i was a kid. i started it cause it felt good to imitate arrow or batman. And now i started to think that i was crazy but now i know. That's the reason i started making good deductions after watching sherlock, having perfect form while shadow boxing etc.

I work with people with dementia and find its so much quicker to get someone to stand up if you sit down next to them and then stand up while phrasing -ok and we-re standing-, instead of just asking. Same with teeth brushing and things like that. -

Recent work in behavioral analysis, the development of relational frame theory, also accounts for why social stories, observation, and imitation occur, via derived relational responding. You guys should crash course it, plllllease?

Is it not possible that through the other types of learning, e. g. rewards based, that the children learned that imitation is good, and from that they imitate further? Rather than an innate form of learning as portrayed here.

People have been teaching animals to do tricks and work with humans for longer than we have history. Amazes me that scientists didn't look at how people get animals to do tasks. It is clearly not all conditioning.

Think of Antabuse for alcohol addiction. Many people drink with Antabuse and get very ill from it, but they continue to drink alcohol. Intended associations, indeed!
