This week Craig Benzine explores the leadership structure of congress. We-ll break out the clone machine to examine the responsibilities of the speaker of the house, the majority and minority leaders as well as the majority and minority whips in both the Senate and the House. As the leadership heavily influences assignments to committees and acts as the primary point of contact with the media, they wield significant power in influencing the public dialog

God, these videos SUCK! It-s videos like these that left me absolutely clueless in History, Government, and AP Government. Stop trying to be so goddamned -funny- because you aren-t! I-m trying to genuinely learn what the roles of the House and Senate are, and this guy says the Majority Leader Leads the Majority and The Majority Whip -whips- them into shape. I guess. -and some other stuff. - These roles were created when black men were considered to be 1/3 of their own being. Maybe not the best joke to make? This didn-t even appeal to me on a Middle School level, I literally just felt like I was having to endure my brain melting while being -educated- by the guy who dropped out of school in his Junior year of high school and somehow stumbled his way into a production studio and someone thought, -Oh, he-ll be GREAT with the kids! - NO. Go home.

At 452 when he says each house of Congress has a special campaign committee which gets to allocate campign funds to help get people elected. I think he's referring to the dccc or nrcc. These are by party within each chamber of Congress so there isn't a majority/minority group with each committee. I think. So I think it's misleading to say these are like standing committees shared by dems and republicans with majority or minority parties both participating.

I hate the idea of the congressional leaders being ones that have been there the longest. I know it still requires a vote but without term limits, the most senior senator or house rep is also the most likely to be corrupt, mentally unfit, as we've seen with Pelosi, Leahy. Their time has long come and gone.

Why use the Democrats as an example of a supermajority? The Republicans had a supermajority for eight years before the 2008 recession. Also the Democrats supermajority was from 2009 until 2011. January 3rd 2009 to be exact.

World leaders will one day have a decision to make and the job will intimately pass the flag onto someone in the future who has charge of world sources. Then they will be in charge of possible peace of the world.

Eight videos into this Crash Course series and a lot of the comments are about passing AP class exams. I-m over here, out of school and not in college, just watching this series because I enjoy learning.

Well I'm learning more about government and, this being 2019, I'm learning more about how we wound up in this Trainwreck.
