I have a live oak in my backyard. Ive seen acorns with holes in them on the ground and I believe Ive seen the worms.
Not sure Ive seen a weevil.
I always thought the worms were a invasive species trying to kill my tree.
My shop sits under the the canopy.
I believe the tree was planted in the 50s when my house was built.
It a big tree very healthy and a good leaf bed.

This video is amazing! I love all your videos, but this one struck me particularly hard as I'm unfamiliar with weevils and oblong acorns. Amazing shots of these fascinating creatures! Their antennae and their storage area for them are so cool!
Thanks for the heads-up about the new insect-related show; it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

They look so cute and that's so interesting! Our crew filmed wasps that are born inside figs! Basically, the tree depends on the wasp to pollinate its flowers, but in return, it offers a hidden place for the insect to lay its eggs. But we must admit that the wasps doesn't look as cute as weevils.

Weevils are my favorite insects of all time! With their silly snouts and adorable little paws, they are the cutest! Acorn weevils are definitely my favorite type of weevil since they are local for me, and they can swivel their little heads! Such charming little guys.

I love weevils. I currently have a root weevil and she is adorable. I had a billbug weevil before her and he was my favourite. The little elephant trunk is irresistible. I hope to see an acorn weevil someday, but we don't have a lot of acorn trees around.

It would be so neat if engineers modeled a robot based on these creatures to collect soil samples or something in hard to reach places -- like small cracks or caves. I find the way they tuck their antennae in so fascinating

So neat!
Longest acorns I've ever seen though - ours are much shorter and stubbier(West Coast Canada. I didn't know they could get like that. I wonder if they taste any less gross than ours?

If a cartoonist had come up with this, their publisher would have sent them back to the drawing board calling it: completely ridiculous and unbelievable!
This is my favourite new creature!

I feel like weevil is too normal of a name for these fellas
We should call them wangzonglers or schnozbonglers or snoot bois or something like that

These videos are extraordinary. Really excellently made in all aspects. Brilliant! What kind of lenses do you use for those close shots?

The voice over and the video details and even the small animation - so much work to educate on a single video. Great job! Thank you

Weevils are the cutest lil guys. I would give one a lil smooch, but unfortunately, they are too small.
