So, is this whole device considered a consumable? Doesn't seem like something that could be cleaned without destroying it. Though I guess the hope is that 99% of the time, it has very little to do, and it's mostly just when initially charging a system that there'll be some moisture and/or dirt? Or. ? Would be curious to understand more on that. though. I also see that the next video in this playlist is How Filter Driers Work, so, perhaps I'm about to find out. :)

I keep wishing it were possible to buy parts from hobby electronics suppliers to play with tiny arduino sized cooling systems. I want to play with peltier modules and miniature dc compressors to try and result in a unit that can charge a phone from room heat. (cooling the room in the process. ! Any tips?

when i was apprentice still had units with refillable driers they came apart unscrewed one end filter media was supplied in large can
we used to replace because they were brass with a great scrap value. still got one i use for flushing systems

Why was the screen dirty on the wrong side of the direction flow? Seems like the filter would be capturing stuff on the core side not on the other side as yours was. Was that dirt and stuff from the cutting tool maybe?

So am I safe to say that the filter dryer is a one time thing? Brazed welded in and used once to clean all the crap and that's it. Because the line set is sealed no more contamination can get inside. So one time use?

I've sometimes wondered, if dirt is getting into the refrigerant, wouldn't that imply an unclosed/leaking system? Perhaps there is a break in the suction line that is pulling in contaminants?

Excellent summary! Filter/dryers should be replaced anytime system has been evacuated for major repairs such as compressor replacement, leak repairs, TXV replacement.

Good video. But at 1: 33 you said solder connections. We don't solder any joint in refrigeration. It's a brazed joint. Much stronger and no acid contamination from paste.

I don't really get it. Why do we need this? I mean if the system is installed precisely than during operation nothing can leak inside or outside. Or am I wrong?

I have nothing to do with Hvac, but decide to watch every single of your videos just to know more. Sometimes i struggle a bit with no prior knowledge.

Why do we need this? How does moisture and dirt get into the refrigerant line? I thought it was pressurized gas with no holes in it?

Please do a video on a refrigerant muffler that goes on discharge at the compressor. Sometimes guys will think it is a secondary dryer: )

Mine is mounted right outside of the air handler in the attic, I noticed it's making a loud hissing and bubbling sound, is this normal?

How to decide the size of an A/C unit if the old one has rusted label? The flow rate, cubic size and the tonage of the AC? Thanks

and what shoud it be when used for the first time on a new system?

Hi there!
Some time ago there were more great videos about VRF training, I wonder where they are now?

Any chance you can do a vrv/vrf video on a typical daikin/mitsibushi system? Would find that very helpful

Wouldn't moisture build up inside this unit over time? Moisture is being captured but has no where to go?
