Top 10 Facts - Aliens
video description
Maybe the terrifying theory that we are in a very young universe, that barely just started, and we are suppose to be the aliens that come to other worlds and determine if they are worth exploring. Maybe this sets us apart from the rest of any other species that currently exists in our known universe. Because if we fail to establish anything meaning in the next half century to interstellar space, then we failed as a race. We failed life in the universe itself.

Columbus didn't work out well for Indians (they are NOT Native Americans? Really? I thought they immediately learned animal husbandry, the wheel, the written word and a hundred other technologies they didn't have to invent, had 300 years of relative peace and an increase in standard of living unseen anywhere else in all of human history. That it didn't end well is a fair point, however. Still, disease goes both ways. STDs were introduced to Europe because of Indians while Small Pox went the other way. that is no one's fault. Just bad luck. Considering they likely didn't even have archery until 1492, and in 1491 hunting meant that they would set a whole forest on fire in the hope of maybe catching an animal that broke a leg, I'd say it wasn't all bad. and now if you'll excuse me I have to go wait for everyone to call me a racist for pointing all this out.

I think we can safely state that there definitely no intelligent beings within 50+light years of earth as we've been sending radio signals out into deep space now for 100+ years, and for say as these radio signals travel at the speed of light which is 670 million miles per hour! Did reach a lifeform inside the 50 years then we'd certainly have already received a reply by now from a intelligent civilisation. Inside that 50 - 60 year window. As such we've received nothing! So we can say with a high degree of certainty that yes they may certainly be intelligent life out in space, there definitely none whatsoever within 50 - 60 light years. In my guesstimate I make that 320 - 350 trillion miles in all directions. Just a dip in the ocean lol.

One island in indian ocean intentionally kept isolated. by indian government. fearing that native people not immune to common diseases. keeping them as their traditional life. same procedure for many tribal people in India. intentionally keeping no contact. making contact will be a disaster for them.
I think aliens will do same. fearing infection to humans or get infected from earth. or waiting for get a cultural maturity
There is millions of planets with infinite resources. so interstellar travel capable aliens not need to invade and exploit us

Humankind developed exponentially in just 200 years after millions of years of evolution, and might vanish at all in next 100 years because of it's own sins like nuclear war or astroid attack. if intelligent alien life exists anywhere they had a window of just 200 to 250 years to communicate with us in our peak time, 50 years have passed and I don't think another 200 will pass before we either vanish or be rendered primitive again due to wars.

I don't think it's correct to presume advanced aliens would want to colonize earth. Colonialism was based on outdated ethics about the value of foreign people. Modern civilizations don't think like that anymore for the most part. Presumably a more advanced society than us would also consider kicking a species of their planet to be unethical and wouldn't do it.

My version of the Tyson analogy [- 1: 29 -- ] has always been the spider monkey in the trees of the tropics. You might want to examine them, but communication is. .. well, hardly desirable. And indeed there have been claims of being examined/observed, but little more than that. We have nothing to offer. Who would blame them for ignoring us?

Aliens are often described as in the thumbnail. My question is why? Well of course because of the movie industry, but here we get to the next question; why were they described like thqt in the first place? Why would the aliens we possibly encounter some day have a head, 2 big eyes and a mouth similar to us?

In all likelihood alien life is everywhere but probably only exists on planets of a particular size in the Goldilocks Zone around a well behaved star, with a large neighbour such as Jupiter to act as a sink for dangerous meteors, comets etc. Still probably equates to billions of ET's out there!

My grandfather used a horse and cart and when it got dark, lit a kerosene lantern.
My father, when I was a child, still had a draught horse.
When I was still a child, I travelled in a car and flicked a switch for lights.
Amazing what has happened in only a few short years.

Isn't almost every lifeform on earth technically from outer space? When the earth was formed by the big bang there was basically nothing here but then meteors came and brought life organisms and ice particles to earth from outer space so things could start evolving and living here

What I'd object to people arguing the odds for there being life anywhere else are immense is that we have no idea about the process for life emerging out of non-life, i e', it might be extremely difficult and improbable for life to be created even assuming earth-like conditions

I love the slow background music. Whatever one might say, I say only we humans are capable of creating music that can fit into any situation. If we ever discover an alien civilisation in the immense universe, then I'm sure, our music will be way better than theirs.

0: 51 We would kill them or use them for scince.
Sad.
3: 02 I don't think so. Humans can't stop expanding their horizons and want to know everything (without attention for other lives/organisms. Why can we not let nature (deep sea) how it is?

Great video but your introduction is incredibly misleading. We cannot -comfortably- say that-s there-s life beyond earth. We don-t know what conditions are necessary for life to form. Until we figure that out, we-re such the fermis paradox

Why does the drake equation not account for star systems that die? You'll have to forgive me, I'm not much of a scientist or mathmetician but it seems to me that the equation assumes that all stars ever born are still burning today.

1: 32 I've to disagree with Neal because whenever humans discover any new species they obviously inspect them and do research. We know earthworms because humans have already done the research on them so no need to do again -

We will never find alien anywhere in the universe regardless of how hard we try because there's none. One of the mankind's epic searches for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Neils analogy is actually false in my opinion. If humans see a worm for the first time they wouldn-t kill it or leave it, we would experiment on it to figure out it-s anatomy and function.

Neil should know that if we saw a worm on Mars we'd be all over that shit. He's referring to our lack of interest of completely ORDINARY and COMMONPLACE life on Earth.

I think the worm analogy used by Neil Degrasse-Tyson merely illustrates the man lacks any sort of imagination. When I see a worm, all I want to know is what it-s thinking.
