Top 10 Facts - 2014 In 2014 Japan had three major scandals, each having a key figure. People terminally online satirically call those three internet sandbags -Generation of Miracles 2014, - referencing _Kurokos Basketball_ manga.
1. Ryutaro Nonomura was a Hyogo Prefecture councilman with quite suspicious expense records. Hes spent huge amount of taxes for his personal sightseeing, over three hundred times during three years in office. Unsurprisingly he was questioned by many, but Nonomuras answer was an embarrassing press conference in which he whined like a baby saying incomprehensible words. Hes become a meme to this day and been the most mocked one over the remaining two.
2. Mamoru Samuragouchi, often praised as a digital-age Beethoven, was a successful classical music composer. His success story had inspired many given him being deaf and his open approach to the pop culture. The fact is that Samuragouchi is neither deaf nor a composer; hes hired a ghost writer. Japanese Beethoven was none other than a marketing scheme. The ghost writer apologized and continued his career as himself with an average good reception. Samuragouchi, however, has been long dead, both as a musician and an internet meme.
3. Haruko Obokata was a deep negative impact to Japanese biochemistry. She was a superstar, talented young female scientist in the top-tier government-funded (and gender-biased) research institute, and her paper was expected to push the humankind to the next level. Sadly her study turned out to be all fake after peer reviews around the world. She was yet another marketing scheme backed by her boss with anxiety about his truly outperforming rival. The boss took the easy way out, so all the blame was towards Obokata. History repeated itself after the biggest biology scandal in the decade prior; South Koreas got Hwang, Japans got Obokata.

2014 feels like just yesterday. The nostalgia of this video kinda makes me want to go back. It's so wild how these major events could easily get overshadowed by the ones we have now. I watched this video a few years ago, and never even expected something like spaceX and a pandemic would be so big

Another fact: on 2014 my friend got hit by a subaru sedan, and a month later while riding bike he'll be hit by the same subaru car with the same driver.
