Shamshi-Adad & the Old Assyrian Empire (2000-1750 BC) Erimgard: How is this an Assyrian Empire? What credible sources call it that? Looking online I can only find you and Wikipedia calling it that, and Wikipedia cites no sources, of course. Assur wasn't its capital city, and the greater Assyria region (an anarchistic term at this point in history) including Ninevah wasn't the center of political power. It was an important chunk of the Kingdom of Upper Mesopotamia (which is what most scholars seem to call Shamsi's empire, but it was not the centerpiece.
This is no more an Assyrian Empire than Hammurabi's was. Both were powerful kingdoms with Amorite warlords who took the important city of Assur, but didn't make it the capital. It's bizarre to pretend otherwise.

Amorite invasion contending for monarchy over the practically defenseless cities of Sumeria, which were still inhabited by the black-haired city dwellers and whomever bred down with them. This follows the creation of Babylon and Nimrod's and then Sargon's new monotheistic state religion pegging Marduk-Ra as the small-g sun-god. Neteru had just ruled for 13, 500 years as Disciples of Horus without any terms for altercation in their vocabulary but that changed with Marduk's (Amun's) land and religion grab. No wonder Amorite king Og led the 100, 000 giants war against the eugenics program. Read the lost book of King Og.

It is interesting how pre roman-hellenistic history has gone out of fashion. Around 1900 it was taught at every European university the big thing. Even my first text books printed around 1950 was heavy on Sumer and Akkad and Assyria and old Egypt. With greater emphasis on understanding socioeconomics scholars and curriculums moved on to periods richer in statistics, like the age of revolutions.

Shamsi Adad seemingly appears out of nowhere. What makes him Assyrian and not Akkadian? Is it only that he and his tribe worshipped the god Ashur? Is Ashur not part of the Sumerian or Akkadian pantheon by a different name? Is Samshi Adad an Amorite, just like Hammurabi, or not quite? Is Assyrian just an artificial construct, simply based on geography?

It was 2000 BC and while the neo-Sumerian empire was the prey of Elamites invaders,
Far far north on a frozen island battered by the Arctic winds, the last member of an immemorial family closed his eyes for the last time.
This island is Wrangel Island
and this Lone One was the last Wooly mammouth.

Ashur was never an Empire you daboleh bu havna.
Umma Ashuri = Assyrian Kingdom ( more precise as of Nation, kingship and faith all three in one ) hence our Capital was Ashur, our God was Ashur and our nation was called Ashur. let that sink in your dumbass brains fools.

Assyria will rise again! The king of kings confirms it in
Mathew 12: 41. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here.

Good stuff! However, I found your use of hand drawn arrows super cringe worthy. I know it may seem small, but for very little effort it could have been prevented you know. Anyway. again Good Stuff (except for the hand drawn stuff. ;-) )

I wonder if those kings really had such elaborate beards like that. With all those neat geometric rows in it. Or was it just something that they only did when they made statues of Kings. I wonder.

Not only are these well-done, informative, and entertaining, my highest praise for a historian is that I cant tell if you are atheist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jedi, or whatever else.

At this point there is stuff from the Romans(SURPISING)
but Asirians 2000 years before and we can see those rock carvings and all the scriptures so clear. Way better than roman stuff

ethopians ans hindus lived in the areas you are speaking of from egypt to what is now called the black sea. when whites invaded, the lands were turned into deserts.
reply

If only the Assyrians, Babylonians, etc of the great Mesopotamian empires had chosen instead to be white people and accepted Christ maybe they wouldve survived.
reply

Very well documented! thanks for this insight. I'm a modern day Assyrian today and most middle easterners today call us Ashuri's another term for being Assyrian.
