What Did Jesus Eat at His Last Supper? - Ancient Recipes With Sohla Benicia: You should do an episode on the details involved with making Kosher wine and slaughtering kosher meat. Also, I am glad that you noticed that a Passover Seder would never have leavened bread, which is why matzoh is made and used. It is a crucial part of the Passover story. Also, the bitter herbs are not supposed to taste good-they are to remind the Jews of the extreme hardship and struggle over forty years to then get to the Promised Land. You should have consulted with a practicing Jew for this segment though, because the foods are meant to be eaten in a certain order because they tell an entire story, along with religious texts read during the meal. It is meant to take a long time to eat this meal.

Hate to have to blow the whistle here, since I'm a really big fan but you were wrong in suggesting they might have had gefilte fish at the last supper. It's an eastern European recipe of the Ashkenazi and it originated back in the 1300s, not over 2, 000 years ago in Israel. Prolly should have done better homework when you're working with recipes outside your culture/ancestry. Said in the nicest possible way.

It must be hard to recreate something that never happened - leonardo wasn't actually there, nobody was because it was fake. That's why you have this work of fiction that has absolutely no facts on actual life and living -

The best time of the year to eat lamb is in the spring, known as 'new season lamb'. In springtime, the meat has not had time to get tough. It's at its tenderest. It's also why lamb is a traditional meal at Easter.

When I went to Rome one of the most surprising eats was the fresh bread with a very thin slice of meat, everything was so good and always wondered how they put such a quick yet flavorful sandwich together.

If yall want to go from the characters perspective in a painting it is best to use stage-right/left cause otherwise you look really dumb saying a direction while the camera pans the other way.

DaVinci painted empty plates, little lumps of brown that might be bread and a couple of round little thingies on the table that might maybe be dates. Sohla's version sounds better.

Per your request. Ancient and Historical African dishes. Maybe something from the -Egypt- area before the current invaders settled there. If it's too far back nevermind.

Will you ever do an Oldest Bread Recipe? I know you did neolithic nettle pudding, but bread is far more common around the world and much more of a staple nowadays

I love the stabbing part but in my culture (Zulu) we don-t stab food-there-s a belief that if you do so, you are inviting a sharp pain in your stomach.

This is why I would have preferred Michelangelo-s version of the last supper. The one with three Christs, 28 disciples, a kangaroo, and jello.
