Inside the Viking clash with Native Americans around 1000 AD. Leif Erikson reaches North America, and the Vikings who follow his expedition soon encounter locals, whom they later call Skraeling. In the land they know as Vinland, these Scandinavians meet the ancestors of the Dorset or Beothuk people. We sift through some of the myths surrounding these stories, examine the ruins at LAnse Aux Meadows, and present the newest research on this history

I decent from a Danish Viking and I am part Siksika. There are no historical records by any of the two people about conflicts.
The Sagas mentioned are stories made up hundreds of years after the fact by the one boat of 60 Christian Vikings who actually never made it to America as they got lost at sea in the year 1060 or 1062 but somehow made it back to Scandinavia and made up stories about gruesome adventures.
The Skraellings this video refers to were Inuits and there are no recorded battles with them either as they were a people that avoided contact with anyone. - They were an isolated tribe and wished to remain so.
The Vikings only raided oppressive warlords and despots and subsequently set up trade posts in the liberated areas in Europe, Asia, Middle East and North Africa.
Christians pray for peace but live by the sword hence the Dark Ages commenced and we still suffer under it.

White people came to the Americas thousands of years before Columbus as documented in South American history, archeology, their myths and stories and so on. The old tribes talked about ancient tall white skinned people with white hair and beards and blue and green eyes who came to the shores from the ocean and who taught them everything they knew. They (indians)called these White People Gods who came to their homeland, taught them everything, stayed for a bit and then left with a promise that they would come back one day. When the Conquistadores came they thought these were the same gods that came to their ancestors. There are statues up and own the Americas depicting tall, white, men with long blond hair and blue/green eyes. This proves that Europeans were sailing the oceans thousands of years before modern history claims. Hail EUROPA

Interesting, more likely when war broke out, the Vikings were overwhelmed by the natives in sheer numbers, loses would be great in both sides.
The Vikings in Europe, either married into the Royal Families or replace them, might explain why Europeans are so violent towards each other.
What I am more interested in, is the Japanese and Chinese landings in the America's, that happen 100s of years before the Vikings

I mean what history school doesent tell us that the Americas had people who lived there by the MILLIONS thousands of diffrent cultures and tribes. I mean people seem to forget that it's not only north America its also south and central! Even in the Amazon apparently recent reaserches there existed plenty of Big civilizations by the Millions. Which bring back the Eldorado theory.

If the vikings had build proper colonies and trade relations it might have saved the Americas from slaughter. They would have been exposed to and recovered from European diseases, and gotten iron weapons and horses much earlier, and would have not been so easily overwhelmed. Even if it had hastened the arrival of conquerors, they were on more equal footing back then.

It's so wild to consider how close the continents were, yet remained isolated for so long, because who TF is gonna go through Siberia on a hunch, OR sail off of what they possibly thought was the edge of the world? Yet here we are, with wild Vikings trying it anyway, lol.
reply

Just goes to show you there really isn't any native people it's just who is living on the land at the time. Everyone came from somewhere and land has changed hands often. This is just history we know about but what about tens of thousands of years that we don't.

Earth is an oriental feminine planet but the American continents broken off from western EurAsia and Africa some 200Mya.
Yet the first people to discover and liv here were the indigenous natives.
Score: Eastern Indians-2, Western Indians-1

reply

Wait. The reporting of the vikings say that the giants live in America. It's one thing for the natives in North-America to see the vikings as big it's another thing for the vikings to talk about giants.
reply

I can't help but scoff and narrow my eyes at the silly, unfounded reverence for the warrior prowess of the defeated, conquered people known as native Americans.
Thank God for Western Colonization.

reply

The vikings got their asses kicked and were sent packing. Had they been smart they would have done what the spanish/anglos did and got the natives to conquer themselves and took all the credit.
reply

I have heard that the ancient Chinese explored the west coast. But I have never seen any evidence of it. The Vikings however left evidence. A lot of it that was assumed to be native American.
reply

Hello, it's maybe possible, this encounter never happen, because the Vikings were carrying the same diseases than the Spanish and those diseases appear in Americas with the Spanish arrival.
reply

Hitherto untouched by humans - the Cherokee have a legend of moon eyed people that were in the land before they arrived. They had a battle with these people and killed them all.
reply

A Viking against a native American? Really? That would be like Godzilla vs. Bambi. The Vikings conquered civilizations and the native Americans built mud huts and smoked weed.
reply

If America had been spared the wrath of the Vikings. Lol Spared? Please. Don't underestimate the war prowess of my Indigenous American ancestors.
reply

I know the first dispute with vikings n native americans was probably sick to see like when they actually chose to go at war know it was intense
reply

Wouldnt it be amazing if we could travel in time! See the changes over time, different tribes that no longer exist, religions and other things!
