Frankly, the fact that the Romans never sent more legions there just means that they didn't really care. One ruler decided to invade a sparasely populated area with no militart tech to get some respect, and then the others just wanted to keep it to not lose respect. It was pretty much useless land: it didn't have any special products, did not have an army to integrate to Rome's, did not serve as a barrier towards enemies, and was costly to keep. Also considering that ideal human conditions are sunny (not cloudy) days, 25 degrees Celsius during the day and between 19 and 21 during the night, as well as and between 40 and 60% umidity, England's temporate weather was not specifically comfortable either.

Just never understood how this there were no such thing as Celts movement became so popular. Noone goes on about native Americans were not homogeneous nor about germanic tribes, Siberians, or even just English. But this progressive history movement has such a thing against a Celtic people. I'm a scholar of history, linguistics, and science of many fields, but this is the only time I ever run into this. Do people really push for some kind of pure Celtic race? I've literally never heard of such a thing. There is no pure race and to think so is idiotic at best, but there is still a push against it. I say leave it out and go on with the wonderful history lessons you always provide.

Likely did so? In his commentaries he specifically defines that as his reason. Guess he is lying and you know better. Somebody is getting arrogant.
This video also acts as if there was no idea of Britain in the Roman mind until 55BC.
This reminds me of the social studies classes in m HS where things just suddenly happened out of nowhere.
The massive irony is how often I see videos like this spend 1 minute giving a synopsis of the past. This one ignores it and thus ignores history.
Poor form!

The British economy prior to Roman arrival was a barter system in some senses, so far as all systems prior to species or fiat currencies were barter systems, but in all likelihood the economy, as all evidence for other pre-currency civilizations would suggest that Britain like most tribal societies used informal debts and credits for transaction. As to say they would just give each other things and then remember it and apply an informal credit score among the people of that given society.

Somewhere out there. there's a land called Briton, where legend tells. it always rains, and in that land there is a city called Hul, where they say Pluto lives, and naughty children are sent.
Noo papa, please don't send me there!
Don't worry, there's no such thing as briton.

What if the romans never left when the rest of the western empire collapsed.
The land would have thrived as a combined Romano-British culture developed and being an island, it was somewhat safer from barbarians on the mainland

To call them 'all Celts' would be an oversimplification. - Much like today when CNN refers to Britain as England or refers to the 'English Prime Minister' who doesn't exist - about 10 times a day. - A Scot living in the US.

Hadrians wall was NOT for tax collection. There is no reason to build a wall coast to coast for that
It was a defensive structure
A tax wall makes no sense!

I'm curious, is pronouncing Agricola agri-cola, like a brand competing with Coke, the standard British pronunciation of that name?

It'd be neat if you could do a 10 minute history of the Celts, the Indo Europeans, much more prehistory would be awesome.
