Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He defecated through a sunroof! And I saved him! And I shouldnt have. I took him into my own firm! What was I thinking? Hell never change. Hell never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldnt keep his hands out of the cash drawer! But not our Jimmy! Couldnt be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And HE gets to be a lawyer? What a sick joke! I shouldve stopped him when I had the chance! And you, you have to stop him! You

it's a shame the series finished here. Literally the next episode is the most important one in British history. Essentially, all the backwards and forwards, argy-bargy, from the episodes so far, cultural movement. This way, legisllation that way, culminates, in the Bill of Rights, in 1685, perhaps the most important item of legislation in the history of human civilisation, considering its influence on the rest of the modern world, e. g, US constitution and all of the colonies.

Great video as always.
Provence was not part of France by this time, it was an independent state in Holy Roman Empire (with strong influence from Aragon-Catalunya and commercial links to Sicily. Provence's reigning family had marital links all other Southern France, but the support to the rebellion in Aquitaine has probably more to do with the nobility trying to escape the French king rule by reinstating former weak English sovereignty.

John I is an ancestor of mine, 28 or 26 generations ago (depending on which line you follow, it's complicated.
My very Mormon brother commissioned a genealogical search that went back to Henry II. We came through an illegitimate daughter of John.
There were other kings as well. Edwards I and III.

1: 59 As a proud Northamptonian I am duty bound to point out that King John's son Henry III founded the University of Northampton in 1261, only to revoke it 4 years later when the academics rebelled against him. So technically it was the one other university founded before 1824.

Interesting part of English history. where it ruled part of France but had lots of problems sustaining it. Was called Angevin. Basis of alternate history fantasy Lord Darcy novels by Randall Garrett where Angevin Empire with magic exists to the present day.

I understood John was called Lackland, not for losing French territory, but for initially only inheriting the Lordship of Ireland and being the youngest son? I certainly think the moniker predated his ascension to the throne?

Everytime I watch these vids it's always about power hungry moves-gaining land and waging wars. Was there no king in the history of Britian that didn't wage wars?
Also the US ain't any better, they're still at it.

For someone with little success in France and such issues with his nobles, John sure got around. Maybe if he didn't spend so much time making illegitimate children, he may not have lost most of Richard's inheritance.

I never understood how European kings so often had no heirs. How did this happen so often? Sure health standers were bad back then, but you'd think the ruler would just plow away until he had many many heirs?

He was called John Lackland long before he became King. He was the fourth and final son of King Henry II and it seemed there was nothing left for him to inherit. Ironically, he hi inherited everything.

John has only ONE saving grace that stops him being the worst king in British history - unlike Aethelred, he didnt commit genocide on his own non-rebelling people and kill entire cities populations.

One correction, John didn't tax the peasants all that much. They wouldn't have much money to pay anyways. John was unpopular because he taxed the nobles who then slandered his reputation.

Why did people want to take over more territory back then when it was so hard to travel far places and there's really nothing good to buy and they didn't know about minerals so much as we do today

Have to thanks to William Martial, he was more influential and more military powerful than The Monarch on that time. More intriguing Fact is he lived more than 80 Years of age. He is the Pole.

What about the enduring Little Charter? Far more important to the masses than its larger twin! And how it shapes Land Value Taxation, bundle of rights to Crown Land and Universal Basic Income!
