I'm glad someone actually mentioned the truth about the poll taxes in the Jim Crowe era South. Blacks weren't the only target of discrimination. Today we look at everything through a lens of race, but back then many groups of whites were also seen as inferior, particularly the poor hillbillies that today for some reason are caricatured as being the racists. In fact many such white trash as the Southern elite saw them despised such people partially because they consorted with blacks.
The whole situation in the antebellum South wasn't merely about slavery or racism, it was about maintaining a sort of quasi-nobility of wealthy families who controlled everything, of which slavery was an important part but exclusion of undesirables was another. The poor small plot farmers or the hillbillies, many of whose families came from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland were seen as garbage people by their betters and treated only barely better than freed blacks as many of their ancestors had come to America as forced indentured servants.
In other words, those who ruled the South were far more discriminatory than we give them credit for. Just being white wasn't enough. You had to be someone. It wasn't that uncommon for a northerner transplant to end up lynched or burned out of their home.

Ohhhhhhh. I get it. When Florida was under water 5 million years ago that was climate change. Then when the sea reseeded that was climate change too. I just can’t figure out how man did it. We only have been industrialized for 300 years. I am sure 95% scientists would be able to tell me how. See they can’t blame man for what happen 5 million years ago but they are currently trying to blame us for what is happening right now. Wake up people. Climate change is a hoax

The equality movement of the post-war era had a great effect on Florida and the rest of the country - As someone who has studied longitudinal health data throughout and since college, all the negative trends started in the 60s, this is something people just say via groupthink. Eg it is extremely easy to argue, just based on the data trends, that the Civil Rights movement was detrimental to African Americans overall.

Contrary to popular belief, Florida had the very first Thanksgiving celebration in what would be the United States when the Spanish landed ashore on September 8, 1565. The lie that the first Thanksgiving happened in Massachusetts is nothing more than Protestant propaganda.

Isn't it ironic and laughable that most of this country is named after native people's language and still millions of Americans still hate and loathe native peoples and many kill and kidnap and rape them without impunity.
That's white for you no

Florida didn’t mention slavery in its articles of secession, like 6 other confederate states. The 6 that did, mentioned it like the US constitution did at the time. The Union had 8 slave states in 1864.

So humans crossed from Asia through Alaska during an ice age.
Right!
Sounds like some 1970s propaganda the teachers union used to indoctrinate western cultures to be more accepting of minorities.

I'm French, and my ancestor, Jean Ribault, a French Huguenot, founded in 1562 the first ever protestant settlement in the new world: Fort Caroline, in modern-day Jacksonville, FL.
