Your map makes it look like there was a different nation in the south. There wasn't. That is all the United States. There were rebels trying to take those states, but they were not a nation. Never recognized by anyone on the planet. Revisionists will try to claim the CSA was it's own nation, but they are wrong. They were no more a nation than today's sovereign citizens are a nation. Just because you call yourself a sovereign entity doesn't make it so. You need to be recognized by somebody other than yourself.

My ancestor Cirilo and a bunch of others arrived in Mexico from France in hopes of getting land if France won. France lost and left those who arrived behind. Eventually those French people met some arrieros and got work. My ancestor learned Spanish fell in love and had my ancestor Apollonio, and afterwards that part of the family would not really like France

From what i read maximillian didnt die but was pardoned by benito juarez because he was a mason as himself, maximillian was taken to south america to live out his life and would sometimes be visited by mexicans, upon his death he had one last wish to be buried in his native country which was granted by the mexican government under the table of course.

They disliked the Spanish. Apart from their own agenda. They wanted to prolong the development of Mexico. All they did was reap the land and didn't even use its natural resource nor their agriculture lands for profit. They just didn't want it to succeed. So I I believe it was just to hinder its growth. I'm just saying, though! Facts.

Thst was a very cool and informative video! A Mexican guy I met from Veracruz was the one who intrigued me to look into this event in Mexican history. He told me that the song La Bamba was about that event in Mexican history & that the original song was NOT written by Richie Valens like I thought.

---- this video was made just so france don't feel humiliated, but they lost 2 large fronts. The first one was the largest one and created panic on the 2nd front and retreat. Now I know what happened to the ones that retreat. Thanks for the only info that might be half-truth---

It looks like the real reason france invaded mexico was to invade the united states and fight alongside the confederate army against the union. Didnt Lincoln state -jeff davis would've never fired that first shot unless he had the support of france-.

I heard Maximilian had a horse brought to Mexico from Europe which was hidden on a ranch in Jalisco after he was executed. Apparently you can visit the now abandoned ranch but I-m not sure how true this story is.
