Hisao Tani, one of the lower ranked generals, was being held for war crimes after the end of WW2 and tried to use the Koreans as a scapegoat. only to be executed. Chinese wasn't believing that one bit and for good reason. China and Korea has always been on good terms.

So Korea disbanded military and became dependent on Manchurians providing defence security. When Manchurians' Ching Empire fell, Korea was helpless due to the lack of military institutions. Aristocracy called Yangban occupied half of the population, produced noting and robbed taxes from common people. And it lacks the economic development after the annexation. The full scale cultural assimilation policy started in 1930s.
