Warning on the Video: when he says all parts, it is just about the American side of the fight! He even frames it as America’s struggle for survival after all the defeats in 1812. If the USA hadn’t attacked, they wouldn’t have been in the position they were in!
Very little information about Canadian/ British tactics or movements or mentions of the Generals and players.
Eleven minutes in and he finally mentioned the fact of the Canadian militia, while there were some at the taking of Fort Detroit! He doesn’t even mention Sir Isaac Brock and his role and pronounces Tecumseh wrong.
I mean, he doesn’t even mention the fact of the doctrine of Manifest Destiny having an influence on why the USA declared war on Britain’s North American colonies (Canada.
There were Canadian militia at Lacone Hills as well, but no mention of them!
This is certainly an American sided, biased take on the war, certainly not a scholarly one.
Edit: additions
Stay safe stay sane, stay strong!

It would be interesting to see a video about how Asian peoples such as the Japanese, Koreans, Mongols, Chinese, Indians, Persians, Arabs, and Turks thought about Europe and Europeans. This refers to what they knew about Europe from the 15th to the 20th centuries. It would be especially interesting to see how the elites of Asian countries and their commoners thought about Europeans when they easily conquered their countries, and the reasons for the differences in military, economic, and scientific fields.

It's well known that the Anglo-American War of 1812-1814 ended with a symbolic British victory. After all, the Americans dreamed of taking British Canada, but due to defeat, the US never achieved this. Most surprisingly, the British captured the US capital, Washington, D. C, and burned it to the ground. Bermuda remained part of Great Britain, which is why the Americans lost the war to the Britishand that's an obvious fact!

33: 33
In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip'
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans
We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they began to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

The British goal during the Chesapeake Campaign wasn't the destruction of Washington DC, but rather the capture of Baltimore and the diversion of US forces away from the New York/Canada border for the impending invasion posing to strike Plattsburgh. The Chesapeake Campaign itself ended in a US victory, with Britain failing to capture Baltimore, and failing to divert US forces away from the border.

I like this documentary but at 35: 20 it infers that George Washington was associated with the Federalist Party and if you look it up, George Washington never affiliated himself with any political party. Maybe that was a mistake I know George Washington was aligned with the Federalist Party ideas but I don't think he was part of it.

Let’s see saying America lost the war because they failed to take Canada is the same as saying britian lost the war because they failed to take Detroit and Maine. Burning the White House then getting defeated in 2 battle right after is not a victory. The war was a tie end of story stop spreading misinformation

Andrew Jackson only became President because he defeated the Army that defeated Napoleon and Andrew Jackson destroyed Britain's most powerful army.
At the same time, the US navy, even though outnumbered, still had more technological advancements than the British navy and was kicking the British navy's ass.

This war also helped shape another nation. Canada can take pride that it was able to fend off and, at times, go toe to toe with a much larger military force. This and the Fenian Raids convinced the separate colonies of Upper and Lower Canada, and Nova Socita and New Brunswick that they were better off united.

During the Battle of York, the retreating British and Canadian forces detonated the powder magazine. The explosion killed over 200 American soldiers, including General Zebulon Pike. This angered the Americans, and they burned government buildings. The British then retaliated by burning Washington DC.

I love your videos they're great history learners but your spots on the map for a certain cities are at or not accurate at all you put Pensacola Florida at the Big Bend when Pensacola is closer to Alabama you said Fort Mims was in Arkansas when in fact it was in Mississippi Territory

Jefferson and Madison were not Republicans. The Republican Party did not come into existence until 1854. You have blown your credibility by trying to rewrite history instead of doing your homework. It makes me wonder what else you got wrong in this presentation. Sorry.

Before we all get to arguing the war was a tie. If you think this was a British victory, then you probably didn’t understand the conflict that much. Not as if our goal was to fully conquer Canada, more likely was to take upper Canada.

. well. WHAT A NICE LAST NAME, THO. _DEERBORN_, HEHEHEHE
. AND, well. IT WASNT A WAR, MUCH MORE OF MISUNDERSTANDING. BECAUSE of NAPOLEON, INDEED. BESIDES IT was 1812, WHAT TO FIGHT for. BECAUSE OF NAPOLEON WAS defeated ALREADY

reply

To those that say it was an American defeat or win, it was tie, part 2 of the Anglo Civil War from the Revolution. Sure no Canadian annexation, but also no indian buffer state, so the British would accept Americans keep going West.

The most interesting part is that the evidence doesn’t always give us a simple answer. Sometimes, it raises even more questions about what really happened. History is far more complicated than the version we learned in school.

Imagine if the creator know that the party in question was called the Democratic-Republicans. The Republican party didn't exist until 1854. Now imagine they knew where Pensacola was. Only missed it by 200 miles.

Dinald Trump is a racist, fascist, DICTATOR! As a proud Canadian, I really hope USA can wake up and vote Democratic. Canada has an amazing PM Carney who is holding drumpf accountable. Elbows up!

Not even a small line for John Paul Jones Taking war to the British Isles. The flag at Fort McHenry was kept aloft by the bodies of the patriots that sacrificed their lives to keep it there.
