PUZZLE: Fork in the Road - 1 [Truths Ville & Liars Town] Nelio: Similar riddle. Fork at the road. One way is paradise the other way, is certain death. There are 2 brothers. One always lies. One always tells the truth. Only one can be questioned. What do you ask in order to survive with 100 % certainty?
Answer: you ask either one the question. -what answer will your brother give if i ask him which path is the safe path- (unknown to you yet, going right is paradise. Going left you will die)
So if the brother you happen to ask is the liar, he will lie and will say that his brother will tell you to go left.
If the brother you chose to ask happens to be the honest one. And you ask him the same question. -If i ask your brother which is the safe path to travel? -
The honest brother will tell you the truth. If you ask my brother ( who lies) he will tell you to go left.
So now you know that you need to go right to reach paradise and avoid death

I had another idea.
-If you were from Liars Town, which way would you say leads to Truthsville? -
If the person was from Truthsville, we would truthfully tell you which way he would say leads to Truthsville if he was from Liars Town. Therefore, he would say the path that leads to Liars Town.
If the man was from Liars Town, he would lie about lying and tell you which way a person from Truthsville would say is the path to Truthsville if said person was from Liars Town. Therefore, he would point to the path to Liars Town.
Whatever path the man points down to, travel down the opposite path.

Kick one of them in the crotch and ask them -Answer yes or no. If I were to ask you if I just kicked you in the crotch, would your answer be the same as the response you give to this question and the same as the answer to the question of whether this is the path to Truthsville? -
reply

One more sol u can also go to lair town or true town by your wish you can choose one way right or left and ask him iam coming from left and he assume that you know that way ask him I AM COMING FROM LEFT SAY ME WAY FOR TRUE TOWN. think you will get answer whether he is true or false
reply

I'll come to him and REQUEST DECLARATIVELY him (not ask) to tell me about something obvious. If he lies, then he is from Liar Town. Now, finally, I'll ASK him where Liar Town is. If he says x, it means x is the Truth Ville.
Easy. Unique solution.

The answer is WRONG. We don't even know if the person is truthful or liar in the first place. We meet him completely unaware of who he is. Even if he says X or Y, we will never know for sure because we are completely heedless of who he is.
reply

The answer seems complicated, any which way he has to go back to his village so ask a question to that guy like this -Are you male or female- if he say male then follow his way and if he reply female then take opposite way-- simple -
reply

We can ask some questions like what colour of my shirt assume I wore the red t shirt then the person who is from lier village will tell other colour and the person from truth village will say red then we get the ans
reply

It has also another answer that is the question is if i asked you whether this road will lead me to truth's ville will you answer yes the person says no than take the other road but if replies yes than take that road.
reply

Another answer: if I ask you if this path leads to truth's ville would you say yes? If yes go in that direction of no go in other direction.
Inspired by ozo and ulu puzzle of ted-ed

reply

For everyone saying 'Just ask an obvious yes/no question to determine if he's lying or telling the truth', this WILL tell you where he is from, but NOT which direction you need to go
reply

Point at the left fork and say, -If I were to ask you whether this is the way to Truths Ville, would you say yes? - If he answers yes, go that way, else go the other way.
reply

The question can also be - Is the liar standing on the road that leads to truths Ville? - and you choose the path where you would expect to get a NO as an answer.
reply

You ask the person to point you to their town. It ain't gonna be their town if they're a liar. It'll be Truthsburg.
Thank you Yu Gi Oh and Joey Wheeler.

reply

I don't believe that question will work. The liar could just respond with -neither direction-. As he lives down one of the directions, that would be a lie.
reply

I have an another solution:
I'll ask him/her,
-If I ask a person from your town the correct way to truthsville which way will it show? -

reply

The thing is, in reality when someone is manipulative they'll decide when to be truthful. And how much kf the truth they're willing to share.
reply

This can also be solved by simply ask a stranger is sign board is broken or not. from here you can easily get the right direction.
reply

I would ask him whether he is a male or a female. So would definitely come to know by looking at him/her whether he/she is lying or not: D
reply

Say: which place are you not from?
Liar: points to lairs town
Honest: also points to lairs town
Easy peasy lemon squeezey!

reply

The liar could say he doesn't know. Remember, he's a liar. Nothing in the puzzle says the liar must give a certain type of answer.
reply

-If I take this path, will it lead to your hometown? -
If he says yes, take that path.
If he says no, take the other path.

reply

where is the original story about a king who was poisioned and had to get the cure from truth town the story you ripped off -?
reply

Alternatively you can ask him, which direction the people in his hometown would suggest to Truths Village.
reply

Actually, there are infinitly many possible answers to the one person that tells he truth, because of MATH.
