-I need it back so I can pay you for today. -
-Why? -
-Look, I have this 2/7ths of a gold bar, so in order to give you the 1/7th for today, I need you to return the 1/7 from yesterday. -
-But. I don't have it anymore. -
-What? What did you do with it? -
-I already sold it. -
-Why did you sell it? -
-I needed the money right away, I have debts dude. -
-This is not what we agreed on. -
-LOOK WHO'S TALKING. We agreed on 1/7th each day, so give me my 1/7th I earned today. I need it to pay off another part of my debt. You could have told me right away that you are going to pay me after the job is finished. -
-No, I am giving you 1/7th each day. -
-But I can't use it anyway, so you could just give me the entire bar in the end. -

if i was a worker getting paid a daily rate, clearly i am not a skilled laborer or exempt employee so I'm spending my daily gold on, well. you can only guess. The point is, this assumes rationality on the part of the worker to be able to return the pieces. The puzzle falls apart because you have to tell the worker not to spend what you gave him that day thus, he has not really earned it since it must be given back as change over time. The only time that he has actually earned anything is day 6 and 7. I understand why this seems like a logic puzzle but it is one directional and heavily flawed when you apply the concept of paying an employee and assuming that the employee is equally as logical as the employer.

Note: The worker should say that with in these 7 days if I feel you are not working good then I will take back all the Gold. In the sense he has to bring the Gold everyday and should not spend the Gold till the completion of work(7 days.
Don't mention the above statement exactly but add in your way.

Its so easy
He will break 1 pieces and give him for 1 day work
2nd day when he will come he will break 2 pieces and give him and take back 1 piece which he has given 1st day
So now when he come 3rd day he will give 1 piece
Then when he come for 4th day he will give 4 pieces and take back 3 pieces and so on.

In this case although he is earning everyday, he will only be able to spend it at the end of every 7th day because he is liable to return the whole cut peices of the bar, impying that he won't be spending anything within this said period of 7 days. So won't it be logical if he is just paid the whole gold bar at the end of 7th day?

Incomplete puzzle! This problem can't be think out of the box bcz it was not mentioned in the puzzle that labour is not allowed to sell the peice of gold.

As others have said, this puzzle assumes the worker never spends his daily wage. Not realistic at all.
