Are you too hard on yourself? Are you being too self-critical? If so, how do you stop being hard on yourself? It's good to become more aware of ourselves. What do you do when theres poison inside of you? You remove it. But its not so easy as pushing an eject button and having it pop out, especially if the toxic is disguised as bad habits or unhealthy self-perceptions. A thought isnt so easily discarded. But with enough practice, they can be questioned and better managed each time we arent so kind to ourselves. Here are 6 signs you may be too hard on yourself. P. S. I always feel like anything I do, I'm not good at. Any hobby I try to start, any sport I play, and any class I try to take, I feel like I'm never good enough and that I'm such a failure. When I fail at anything, I beat myself up so much. I tell myself you've been trying for so long, and you STILL suck at it or I'll say why do I even try anymore. I guess it's a result of wanting to be the best always and seeing other kids success and being jealous about it. I also crave that reassurance and attention, which I felt like I never got. It's amazing how a 4 minute video can sum up your life. Thanks for reading anyone who stayed lol

I am told I am not doing good enough in school, but I have an 86. 3% average, and I am three assignments ahead of schedule. My parents think I have given up, but I haven't. I think they are going to give up on me, and kick me out of the house because they want to give up. I am always in trouble for being behind where they want me to be, but I am always ahead of where my teachers want me to be. Maybe it's for the best if I live on the streets until I finish school than stay here at home. They said that because they thought I gave up they would kick me out of their house. I believe it.

The worst habit that I have is that I'm to hypercritical about what I do or not doing. I guess in my mind I thought that if I criticize myself then no one else would do that to me because it's a way for them to back off and to leave me alone. I also realized that it's bad for my self-esteem if I'm hard on myself all the time every time I make a mistake or did something wrong, but at the same time it's hard for me to not be hard on myself because I expect the best for myself in order to help out with my family or try to find a job.

I feel lately I'm being hard on myself and I think that it's because of that, that I'm judging others, and I don't like that at all, I didn't use to be so perfectionist before and I miss that but I don't know how to stop it, also everytime I give myself a break I think that others are going to see it as an excuse so I constantly feel shame about myself for not working hard enough because of others' expectations. This makes me feel so alone all the time, I feel like everyone hates me. I wonder if somebody can relate to this.

Im so depressed right now. Every time I try to go to the gym I have to leave after doing two to three workouts because I get so tired. My energy has been so low, it doesnt matter how healthy I eat or how much water I drink, my energy is so low. My brain is merely surviving right now.
I dont reach out really because I feel useless and dont wanna bring anyone down. I know I have positive and loving words to offer but Im very sensitive rn. So if something triggers me, I dont wanna be around anyone when that happens.

In my life, I've always had 2 enemies. Hostile people and myself. I torture myself, I agonize over things. I dwell on the smallest things because I care very deeply about people I respect. The problem is I feel my feelings aren't reciprocated which is depressing. I am a loner cos I'm too intense around people. Almost 50 now. I did a 44-track quadruple-album on bandcamp. Every song on it is superb, which is something to cheer. No Serial Killer.

For me I dance and sing alot and my sister and I want to become successful artist. We are starting to workout and do step by step choreography videos and I am hard on myself because I can't get the dance right because I'm use to freestyle dancing then I Shame myself for not dancing right so I feel bad when I freestyle dance, sane with singing. I know this is a lot I just wanted to get this off my chest.

You know how you are always taught that bullying only hurts if you let it? Well the same can be said of compliments. If you keep going while dismissing every compliment as untrue, it doesn't matter how many people tell you how great you are, you will still not believe it. Let those compliments sink in. Dwell on them if you must. They can be signs that people care.

I would like forget my past but its possible only if my parents stop reminding it to me. I know what I have done but I am trying to do better I know its still not enough but my mental problems are not letting me do much. And I cant tell them either they just dont believe in mental problems. Its not their fault though they are just from different time.

i messed up very hard on a math test this morning. Ruined my mood for the entire day. I've never felt more disappointed in myself because i've studied for the exact same material. i wish i could be less hard on myself especially considering tenth grade marks don't matter for university.

If I dont maintain 1-3 and 6, I wont be productive. If Im too hard on myself, I burn out but if Im not, I procrastinate and nothing gets done. So hard on myself it is.
Worse is when I get accused of both by different people at the same time.

3: when one of my friends complements or says something nice to me I feel like theyre just lying and think Im a scumbag.
5: when I make a mistake or make someone mad, I often blame and curse myself even that happened a long time ago.

But what if u feel lonely and struggle to come to terms with traumatic experiences as they are extremely emotionally challenging. Its one of them u can self love all u want but sometimes u need good company who u enjoy being around.

Comparing yourself to others as a fools errand that I recently learned. You may be comparing yourself to people that look and seem great on the outside but go home to a horrible family situation, alcoholism, whatever.
reply

no but i actually do deserve the harm i inflict upon myself. my siblings and my parents have told me im too hard on my siblings and i lost my friends because i was too clingy and rude. im the problem. i deserve the pain.

3 and 5 for me, not so much 1 anymore(unless I majorly mess up then I dwell on it) I do think compliments are lies unless I do something amazing. And as I said before if I majorly mess up I dwell on it for a few days.

I just realized that spending time with my friends and making them happy isn't the problem it's about my parents: < comparing themselves with my friends, I just wanna make people happy and felt loved: (

Because I have to be. When every landlord you ever had including parents throw you in the street for problems completely unrelated to you it makes you wonder if you have the right to exist at all

The only sign that hasn't been true for me is not giving myself a break. Either that or I've had endless cycles of procrastination, trying to numb the pain of the five other signs I do fall under!
reply

I relate to signs 1, 3, and 5. I realized Ive been so hard on myself, constantly putting myself down. I have a voice inside that always bullies me. And I feel like Im not good enough.
