Do you currently have a crush on someone? Are you in love? How about the interest in the psychology of attraction? Even though we are not here to discuss the science of attraction and how attraction happens in the brain, we are here to discuss the five types of attraction

This is very good video. Im aroace (I think) and have a huge amount of sensual, platonic and alterous attraction, as well as aesthetic. I always confused it for romantic attraction because Id feel so much: )
Would also like to point out alterous attraction, which has really helped me learn more about myself. Alterous attraction is an attraction that isnt romantic or platonic, it could be in between or something completely different. I always viewed it as an intimate, closer friendship for myself: )

I feel like I have loved someone before but I dont know if it was romantic, I mean in the moment I thought it was but now Im starting to question if its just wanting a really close friendship with someone, one that reassures me they wont leave. Ive started to question if Im aromantic but I honestly have no idea and Im scared of how my friends will react. Romantic relationships are cool and all but what if Im just confused with platonic attraction and romantic?
reply

When it comes to love, I feel so crappy all the time and I feel like I never will be in love after dying to be together with someone and having my feelings returned, I feel all thrill disappear with this person and I completely change friend groups. I might even be in a relationship then loose my feelings after 4 days. I want to have someone to love that I also love but I am legitimately incapable of romantic relationships. I cant with my life.

Can anyone help me out? Ive clearly identified myself as aromantic, but theres this guy that likes me and i have a squish on them but idk if its a squish or more. I get really nervous around them at first like in school but once we start talking a lot i feel fully comfy. I like it when they hug and cuddle me, but i have no desire to hug them or cuddle with them. I only like it when they do that to me.

My friend and I are currently bonding over both having a squish (platonic crush) on the same person and its honestly such a wholesome experience. We both just really wanna be their friend and get to know them, and my heart is so full to get to experience and talk about this with someone else who understands and doesnt judge. Fun times I recommend

Can you PLEASE make more videos about platonic crushes? I keep thinking all my attractions are romantic and keep beating myself up about it, but that's not always the case. So many crush videos only talk about romantic crushes, and I begin to read them, only to say, IT'S NOT THAT KIND OF CRUSH!

Intellectual attraction. Someone you want to spend time interacting with on an intellectual level. You like what and how they think. But you may not be attracted to therm in other ways or want to interact with them outside of the realm of intellect, thought, and knowledge.

thanks for explaining this! i identify as aroace, but i still feel like i like the way people look. so i think im a neptunic aroace that only feels aesthetic attraction!
reply

Is it normal of not being able to feel some of those types of attraction? I cannot feel romantic or sensual attraction.
(Sorry English is not my first language)

Turns out this guy I was friends with, I almost thought I had a crush on him but i think im just aesthetically attracted to him cuz i cant imagine him dating me
reply

I love that there are actually different kind of attractions, I always thought that I was weird when I said that I was attracted to someone, but platonicly.
reply

But I really want to know what it is that I only feel attracted to fictional characters like THEY DON'T EVEN EXIST AND HERE I'M CRUSHING OVER THEM!
reply

wanting to kiss someone is part of the sensual attraction? or it would be romantic? also, platonic attraction cant feel this, right?
reply

I often experience aesthetic attraction and sometimes platonic. I don't like the idea of being in a romantic relationship with them: )
reply

I just found out that the person who I liked was actually a platonic crush(squish) and I don't really like her in the way
reply

I have aesthetic attraction; then the more I get to know that person, the less I want to have any form of relationship with them.
reply

Im mostly aromantic, but this person in my class is really cute, they wore a long pink dress yesterday, and bro Im kinda swooning.
reply

Thanks for this! I have a graphic that's super helpful, but this is the first video i've come across that's really good!
reply

this video helped me to figure out that im sensually and romantically attracted to my best friend! thank you so much
reply

Idk, like, I have crushes, but most of them Im just in love with the /idea/ of being in love and having someone
reply
