This is so real it's almost unreal. I've been on this rollercoster for over two years going from acknowledging my trauma to questioning if I've ever been traumatized in the first place. And I'm still struggling with despite knowing I've been traumatized from not having my emotional needs recognized and cared for, through physical abuse, to being in a co-toxic co-dependant abusive relationship. I KNOW I'm traumatized. But knowing isn't feeling. Appart from therapy I've started meditating on the first moment that I know was abusive somehow in in this meditation actively coming up to myself and giving myself the same compassion I have for others. Shit's whack. But I think it's starting to work, cause there's more and more memories surfacing wanting the same attention as that first one got.

I know for me, instead of becoming introverted and wearing black, I did the opposite. I learned to perform for people and be extra fun and extra special. If a conversation fizzled, it was because it was my fault, and I needed to become better at conversation. I became great at social relationships, but it was exhausting every time, and I'd need to break up social time with days of being at home. Only when I really had to be authentic in my dating life did I realise that I was performing for people, and it is not what other people did. I remember the first date I had where I just relaxed and stopped performing and it was far easier and I vibed better with the person.

I know me becoming indifferent and not caring for anything else is because of trauma. But in this world unless you have the resources to fix yourself, to be honest you'll just be stuck traumatized. Harsh reality is that in my country even in most countries healthcare does not care about mental health so you'll have to choose if you want to be able to eat for week or go to one psychiatric appointment. Only the ones with resources will be able to afford it, and the ones who can't afford it will just have to suck it up.

Holy, all of this is me, especially the blending in. As a teenager, I used to wear colorful clothes and used to voice my opinion, but as time went on and turned into an adult, 80% of my clothes are black now and I do everything I can to remain silent. My friendships aren't deep, but at least I'm safe. I'm scared to be myself because I fear my safety and I fear that I lose people if I'm myself. I'm afraid I'll be hurt again and I want to avoid that as much as I can. I don't know what to do.

Fawning and people pleasing have been my trauma responses.
Honestly, between PTSD, CPTSD and ADHD, I don't know who I am. Am I being nice because that's who I am and who I want to be or because I'm a people pleaser? Am I calm because I want to be or because I feel the need to mask my ADHD and not be too much?
I don't know how to be authentic if I don't know what it looks like for me. I always feel fake and maskng, and feel like that hinders my social life. It's tough.

The passive agressiveness resonated with me so much as the child of a narcissist.
I love my parent and the love me but I could never have a respectful conversation about the mistreatment so I tend to drop lots of passive agressive hints which hurts them but since they're not capable of admitting to abuse or disrespectful behavior I'm stuck with this until they die and I've accepted that.

I have honestly never felt like myself around anyone. I feel like I need to hide things I am ashamed of or hide parts of myself to be more accepted around said person or group. I never felt safe being fully myself around anyone. Also around friends, even though i have known them for years. I feel fake. I feel like no one really knows me. Its really lonely, i don't know how else to describe it.

I literally lost my voice at times during that period. My therapist said it s called selective mutisism. I grew so quiet and withdrawn and I still am as it was not short term 1 time. I used to be a really outgoing funny loud kid, but that got taken away.

Well I can relate and I really think If I didn't just sit there cry maybe my mom would have loved me more and she would have hit me like she did and maybe she wouldn't yell at me much
reply

As someone who suffers from multiple traumas, it is quite easy to relate here.
However, I kinda like to have a friendly smiling face on a sticky note now: ,D

As a person who always tries to be as honest as possible, I still don't really understand why some people seem to be trying their best to hide their feelings.

Day 1 requesting Psych2Go to make a video on how to know someone is afraid of losing you or just staying due to afraid of being alone.

You should have added the timeline feature in this video. It becomes easier to learn from this video if there is a timeline feature.

'Just be yourself' and 'Just trust me' are equally vexing when intensely thought about within street level standards of behavior.
