The Insane Plan to Build a Europe to Africa Tunnel

The Insane Plan to Build a Europe to Africa Tunnel I can understand the economical and social incentives for the African continent, but wich are there for the European continent?
Let alone it-s a lot of money and difficult because of practical building-difficulties: for the more rich side Europe there are more disadvantages for more easy movement for people between Europe and Africa then advantages. This said without saying Africans are robbed by western banks and multinationals, but it-s now about the advantages and disadvantages for a tunnel for both sides and those banks and multinationals don-t need a tunnel to continue.
The EU actually tries to make migration from Africa to Europe more difficult and checking ferries is far more easy then to make sure people don-t sneak or force themselves into tunnels in what kind of way we could imagine. It-s not populair to say, but a lot of immigrants who don-t have real chances on legal paid work or who even don-t want to work cause trouble in mostly the northern part of Europe that is more rich and would be asked to pay the majority of the costs when it becomes an EU-project.
So seen in that light there are more negative incentives to block a tunnel or even to make traveling between Africa and Europe more difficult for the Northern European countries who has to pay the most
then enough positive incentives to build a tunnel and the Southern European countries have no real positive incentives either.

I live right at the bottom of Africa. I would love to see a bridge or tunnel connecting the African continent to Europe as it will start the process of bringing the African continent out of the third world. This bridge or tunnel will most likely not have a huge economic effect on my country, but the countries at the top of Africa will slowly gain economic ground which will in turn start filtering down into the rest of the continent. This can only be beneficial in the fight against world hunger and poverty. As you all must know, the African continent as a whole has been and is still devesated by these types of problems amongst others such as genocide, civil wars, political unrest and corruption. In order to to irridicate these circumstances and events, economic growth has to occur.

This would connect Spain and morocco/ Europe and morocco, which are already well connected since they're literally a short faerie ride apart. not Europe and Africa, there's a massive desert separating the Maghreb region (Morocco Algeria tunisia) and the rest of africa/subsahara (also called black africa. there is a road going around the Atlantic coast from morocco but most trade is between North africa and Europe. North africa is also home to 3 out of 5 of the top 5 economies in africa.

The biggest problem is there's no great demand for transport between Spain and Morocco, or Europe and West Africa. There's very little trade going that way, and trade that does can go much cheaper by sea. On the contrary, Spain and the EU have no desire to make it easier for migrants to travel from Africa to Europe.

Italy should build first a tunnel with high speed road and high speed rail track to Sicily. I think they can get also EU fundig for this project. After this further connections from Sicily are possible. Like the Fehmar tunnel to Denmark. Maybe we will see a tunnel from Sicily to Tunisia in the future.

this poor Continent must Remain Poor and Cut off from the rest of the world because if they dug tunnels with other rich European nations, those poor Africans will storm and raid those Rich cities, massively overpopulating those Rich cities with Black and poor people
reply

I feel like the whole -but there isn't even a bridge connecting Sicily to mainland Italy- argument falls flat when you realize that's only a 3km bridge separating the two, 1/48th the length of the bridge or tunnel needed to connect it to north africa
reply

The racists are going to say, but we don't want Africans in Europe. If only Europe would have stayed out of Africa. Now that they have become first world countries by exploiting the riches of Africa, they want to close the borders--

-A large landmass separated by water-
So if use that definition of continent
North and south America would've been a single continent
And afroeuraisa would also exist without the suez canal

reply

If Italy makes the tunnel it will collapse in a few years because some sort of mysterious corruption caused it to be built crappy and all the officials were bribed to ignore it.
reply

Baah. Bad! If you don't count North and South America as being connected because of the Panama Canal, you must also count Africa as not being connected due to the Suez Canal.
reply

North Africa is closer to Europe than sub-Saharan Africa. Connecting Europe and North Africa is no the same as connecting Europe and Africa. Also goods travel better by ship.

I should be amazing a Africa border with italy but my dad was telling me that it is almost not possible because the the sea is too long Between Africa and italy

900m deep dome would be closest thing to visiting Moon as a tourist right now. possibly very interesting feeling there and some climate change/pressure and others.
reply

That's actually very interesting. I'm Indonesian so the thought of these bridge/tunnel megaprojects is always there. Particularly between Java and Sumatera.
reply

It is a good plan to make a sicily and Africa border that should be amazing but how long is the tunnel or bridge between sicily and Africa When it is there?
reply

So, the Norway tunnel is about 23% l deeper and about 15% longer. Does that really qualify as -crushing the length and depth- of Spanish/Moroccon Tunnel?
reply

Let-s have patience and enjoy one or one more cup of tea, high tea I mean, and soon all the bridges will be there. Certainly in 100 years.
reply

but this would damage the environment and all the pollution it cause when constructing the tunnel. where's the media coverage about this? silent?
reply

how is asia and afriaca any more TECHNICALLY connected then N and S americas, if ur technically counting canals?
technically

reply

Just to make it more convenient for migrants to make the trip to Europe from Africa would make the tunnel/bridge worthwhile.
reply

Hold up, Asia is not connected with Africa by land because of the Suez Canal. Unless your talking about driving, that-s cap.
reply

Hey sense Italy to Scilly to Tunisia was a option then why not move the Gibraltar bridge east from Murcia to Western Algeria?
reply

0: 56 that information isnt wrong? What about the Istambul bridge? So, going arround black sea isnt needed. Just saying.
reply

Lmao the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville FL (hometown lol) is longer than the proposed Italian/Sicilian bridge lol
reply

I doubt anyone in Europe seriously wants such tunnels or bridges given what-s going on with illegal migration-
reply

Oh boy being from Spain Morocco and Spain don't have any good relation there won't be a Morocco Spain tunnel
reply

can you use miles instead of km? It's literally like listening to chinese when you use the metric shite
reply

Italy has not had a functional system for public infrastructure creation since the Roman Empire collapsed.
reply
