When talking about Macedonia some facts don't get mentioned which i believe to be important facts to get a full picture. Fact is, most of the region of Macedonia (within greece and bulgaria as well) was inhabited by slavic macedonians before the 1920 population exchanges between greece bulgaria and turkey (you can check this by looking at whatever ethnic map of the region of macedonia a century ago. Fact is Greeks never identified as macedonians precisely because of this reason, and the name Macedonia had been prohibited in greece by law durring the last century. Fact is that the identification of the greeks within the region of macedonia as macedonians is a recent developement that only came about because of the resurgence of the ethinc macedonian slavic identity. Fact is there are ethinc macedonians within greece to this day, and greece doesn't recognize their minority rights. Greece claims to be ethnically pure which is impossible by european standards, and fails to recognize the existence of different cultures within its borders. Fact is the macedonian language was prohibited by law in greece, the ethnic macedonians were forced to change their names and adopt greek names, the names of cities and villages that had stood for centuries were changed into greek sounding names because they had a slavic origin. Fact is most of the greek macedonians that identify as such withinn greece today only came to greece from turkey durring the 1920s. Fact is macedonian refugees from greece durring the war periods are prohibited to enter the country and return to their homes TO THIS DAY if they don't first change their names into greek names and forget about their slavic identity. Fact is, the greek obsession with macedonian culture is a modern development just like all other nation building processes in the balkans and further beyond. This is pure politics and it divides people, if it is not going to ever stop (which it seems it wont) I would at least like it for both sides to be represented equally, which never happens sadly. For anyone interested in this topic ( I assume almost no one), please read up on some of the FACTS that get lost in all the nationalist noise, especially from the greek side. THANK YOU

I reached the part of Macedonia dispute and this video is heavily biased. It didn't represent the facts at all.
The fact that you start calling this pseudonation of mixture of Albanians and Bulgarians with a Serbian minority as Macedonian, you have lost all credibility.
To list a few facts:
-No map prior to WWII lists that country as anything related to Macedonia.
-Slavs arrived in 7th century. And the population of this country isn't Greek therefore it can't be Macedonian, especially when they have migrated by force so late in history.
-Macedonians were, are and will always be part of the Hellenic branch, the people of this pseudonation have nothing to do with Macedon in one way or the other. Just living near the historical kingdom of Macedon doesn't make them Macedonians end of story.
-Names that are acceptable are: Vardarska and Skopje. Or if they want a geographic designation, we can give 3 that matches the ethnicity of their population:
A)West Bulgaria.
B)East Albania.
C)South Serbia.
-Their language is a copy/paste 1: 1 of the Bulgarian. No text or reference of a Macedonian language that is not related to an Ancient Greek dialect has ever existed nor it could have.
-This country is the birthplace of wokism. They identify as something they are not and we are obligated to sit down and accept while reality contradicts their claims
Shame to every country that has accepted them as Macedonian. Double shame for the voters of Ephialtes no2, aka as CheapRass who runned syriza party and signed this atrocious treaty.
Greece always had to rely on their own. Every time we needed help, we were backstabbed by our allies. The sooner we realise that, the better would be.

51: 20 Those comments would also be an absolute flame war. Happens any time you mention politics in NI (or ig anywhere, but particularly NI.
Also, with you agreeing with age restriction, what makes it so The gory footage of things like Bloody Sunday That's somewhat reasonable, but you don't need to be an adult to understand and learn of conflicts like the Troubles. I say that because I'm from Northern Ireland, and the Troubles are a part of the GCSE History curriculum here. That's studied between the ages of 14-16. If anything, the shocking footage, or at least the less gory bits of it, are very useful in conveying the true mess this place was for 30 years. It shows the horrors of the conflict I am very lucky to (mostly) not live in today, and gives you an appreciation for that peace.

As a Turk, I won't comment about the whole Cyprus dispute since it's worth its own books. However, the whole Aegean dispute has to be solved. Islands with EECs is a concept of colonialist states like the UK and France. They have tiny islands all over the world and they try to use natural resources in and under the waters around those islands. But granting 12 nautical miles borders to islands in the Aegean is very unfair, to say the least, to Turks. Just look at the map. Turks can't even swim in the Aegean if 12 miles. Besides, I wouldn't want 12 NM if I am Greek since that will mean every single illegal immigrant will be my responsibility once they put their toes in the water. That would be a huge liability for Greek coast guards.

Croatia is not part of the Balkans. Balkan penninsula does not exist, it's a cultural phenomenon and regards southeastern part of Europe conquered by Ottoman Turks from 15th century till the end of World War I. The geographical shape of Croatia today is the most obvious confirmation of that. We, the Croats, are Roman catholics and therefore belong to Western civilization. Our literature, architecture, music and all other art had renaissance, baroque and classicism, romantism, realism etc, unlike countries southeastern of Croatia.

As someone with no prior familiarity with the dispute over Cyprus, I think Turkey should get the whole island.
Racially, I look more like a Greek than like a Turk.
Religiously, I as an atheist have marginally more in common with a Christian than with a Muslim.
But politically, I think Greece should lose access to the island if only as punishment for encouraging a coup in the first place, and as a deterrent against future governments encouraging coups.

In 1974 after the putch in Greece, the famous words of Tr PM was: we go to the island not only bring peace to turks but also to greeks. And this is exactly what happened since then. And there was chance of reunion in 2004 suprisingly rejected by greeks. Now in 2024 the world has changed and it is a whole different story. The new era is not dictated by people but by energy and money.

41: 35 Since the Greeks have a history of invading sovereign nations. Since the Turks also have a history of invading sovereign nations. before they stake their territorial claims, their billions of victims might have something to say. What the Greeks and Turks have to say about their sovereignty and their territory sounds rather insane. Claims are rarely based in truth.

While I get the absolute necessity for the longer videos to dig into a lot of context. I really do miss the older days of shorter RLL vis. I can understand if 6-7 min is nigh impossible now. but 15-20 min would be nice.
I know, I know. 1st world problem. But I also can't watch every 30min - 2hr vid I want anymore
Sorry for needlessly complaining

It's funny how Germany has almost no border disputes despite losing massive territories in two World Wars (some justified, some unjustified like Stettin.
Also, isn't there practically a dispute between Hungary and its neighbors The Treaty of Trianon is a massively controversial issue there, if they could they'd take back some of the land lost.

The Dutch king is a German.
So the dispute can be solved easily.
No more king, no more kingdom of the netherlands. No more Dutch German disputes. Easy.
Coincidentally both countries are applying border controles.
So bs is to be expected. Conflict as well. All so the involved can proceed to exist.
All such a coincidence.

Get your facts straight:
FYROM changed their name to North Macedonia. Their official name was Former Yugoslavic Republic of Macedonia.
They are slavs and albanians who stole the name Macedonia from the greeks, because they wanted a national narrative.
Yes, the word they used as their endonym does not exist in their language.

9: 27 The other significance of this border is that it is an external EU border. Croatians have to negotiate four passport controls in just 5km of which two are external EU borders, hence it can add hours to what should be a 10 minute drive. 10: 17 That is not the bridge you refer to in the narrative. It is in the port of Dubrovnik.

In the Laws of the Sea measurements are taken from the shoreline of the mainland of a country not from any of its islands and as the shoreline of County Donegal in mainland of Ireland is nearest to the Islet of Rockall there by Rockall is in the EEZ of Ireland not the UK. Ireland own Rockall and all the rights that go with it.

I just so happen to live right next to lake constance on the swiss side. On the maps here along the lake i have always seen the border going through the lake. When boating we were always told not to go across the middle as to not cross the border into Germany (a border that germany doesn't even recognise)

Really disappointed that you included the name dispute betwee North Macedonia and Greece, but failed to mention the ongoin dispute between North Macedonia and Bulgaria about the formation of its ethnic identity. This also led to Bulgaria vetoing North Macedonia's negotiations for EU accession.

You conveniently forgot the vicious massacres on Turkish Cypriots by the support of the dictatorship of Greece. That is why Turkey intervened to save them, as an internationally recognized guarantor legally. Greece was also a guarantor. Yes, Greece was a dictatorship then!

I’m not an expert. But after viewing and analyzing this video from beginning to the end, line by line, word by word, letter by letter. I came to the conclusion and I can say that I can’t say anything because as I said at the beginning, I'm not an expert.

Some pretty glaring omissions. How about the dispute between Bulgaria and North Macedonia
You know, the one that actually stopped the latter from entering the EU accession process and separated it from Albania.
It really puts a dent in your credibility
