I ran into this flash fill thing by accident. Had to hard-key account numbers from a long string of data that had no pattern and changed often - because our client didn-t care to make things easy enough to extract them with a formula into a new column, and excel recognized what I was doing and filled the remaining 500 lines in. Saved me 20-30 minutes

Thank you SOO much. Your vids are so good I understand every single bit, either just looking with no sound, or just sound. I also like your voice its calming whilst trying it out by my self. Keep up the good work Sir and i hope you were the IT teacher at my school! :)

Is there a similar easy solution for data that is dynamic and may change over time? e.g. I change the name and all the respective cells on the right automatically change accordingly? Thanks for any help!

Amazing.. but when you change the name to Thompson, I notice that the first letter didn-t change as it follows the Last initial which is letter -S-.. so it writes Thompson as Shompson

I use Excel 2010 and there isn't flash fill option... is there an alternative i could use with similar effects?? thanks! great videos i learnt so much alredi!
