This video is so misleading. Each one of those points, even narrated with a British accent, can be refuted. Yes, capping abandoned oil wells needs to happen more aggressively. But majority of methane released by humans comes from livestock farms, not abandoned oil wells. And the video advocates not drilling & using hydrocarbons. However, the reactions occurring in combustion engines breaks those bonds thanks to the fuel ignition and catalytic conversions thereafter. In fact, that action ADDS hydrogen to our atmosphere. So when you accuse humans of causing the earth to leak, we humans have no influence on the core & magnetic field diminishing. nor is the core rotation related to CH4 released in the atmosphere. Poorly executed marketecture.

Developed country are mostly located in the North and they don t care about the rising temperatures at all, the 45 Degree Celcius temperatures the tropical equatorial countries suffer on a daily basis throughout the summers, while Europe and North America applies sunscreen and take sun bath driving miles emmeting gallons of gas to reach to the coastal beaches.
If developed countries carries this policy of melting the Arctic for the hunger of more resources, then Equatorial countries might have to migrate South and settle in Antarctica for survival.

Very heavy handed narration used to unsettle people. This was not really about the earth's core at all. This was about using fear, uncertainty and doubt to get to people worked up about our changing climate. This is a sneaky and underhanded way to market a message. I'm not suggesting our climate is not changing, but only in the way this information was marketed here.

Mauna Loa Observatory, have a grate methane graph on there home page.
Data->Data viewer->Carbon cycle gases->time series-> select methane->submit. (you can make other choices, but this will get you startet)
Actually I thing the methane graph is more positive than the CO2 graph. It looks more like a problem we could solve. CO2 just looks bad.

You should NEVER provide a stat like 250, 000 tons of methane per year without context. By comparison, the 1. 5 billion cattle raised for meat worldwide emit about 230 BILLION tons of methane per year (and yes you re also vastly underestimating the impact of livestock on our global methane emissions. Get your numbers right!

Brilliant: private companies are not plugging holes, let the government make them. Governments in the world are failing to do the only thing they have to do (security) and ted-ed comes to the brilliant idea of asking them to go after private companies instead of giving a real solution to a problem. Nice

10 billion pounds of coal? Seriously? I know you're trying to say it's a lot of coal, but who measures the weight of coal in pounds! This is the type of tricks politically motivated messages often use, which i think science ed videos should stay away from.

Humans had the chance to delay global warming and save Earth by electing Gore to be POTUS, but they got Bush Jr. instead. One of the biggest F ups in human history. The Twin Towers of WTC would still be standing today as well if they elected Gore.

The cows are not a natural producer of methane. It is humans who are breeding them by the billion to steal their milk and slaughter them for their meat. Going vegan and boycotting these industries is a great way to have a positive impact.

To be fair, if the core cools down in the next 700 million years that will be a real tragedy, life have been on this planet for the past 3 billion years, so geologically we are at the endgame of life in the earth

The truth is, Earth will destroy on day. World superpower countries are not gonna stop their competition. They will compete with each other and Earth will face the consequence.

Oh thank God! More alarmist propaganda! When Greta thunberg deleted her tweet from 5 years ago, i was worried that the alarmists have given up on their propaganda

Fees, then nothing happens. The oil people who commit the crime to hide it should face jail time. Not make them pay money and allow to redo the same crime.

If a greenhouse gas keeps the heat inside, why it doesn't send the heat away when it comes from the sun? Like when a volcano erupts.

Cant we help monetize these methane leaks, by using methane as a fuel? Like i read somewhere that China recently launched a rocket powered by Methane

good job ted-ed, use the life-ending issues 1 and 3, to grab people's attention, whilst once again preaching climate change with the same severity.
