The wheels in your brain are constantly turning, even when you're asleep or not paying attention. In fact, most of your brains activities are ones youd never be aware of unless they suddenly stopped. Nathan S. Jacobs takes us inside the always active, surprisingly spontaneous brain. Lesson by Nathan S. Jacobs

Informative. But despite of being an under-net person, I figured out that deep sleep stage is disturbed to create REM sleep. REM is no natural phenomena. Dreaming is arificially createf. It stops the natural restoring process of the brain and memory creation of the brain. Being sleep deprived for years I realised how strong my brain is as it learns new things with an ease. This brain surely will take a place in the history of humanity.

theres no such thing as spontaneous brain activity, its only assumed as such because you dont understand what each thing the brain is doing. The brain doesnt waste energy on that kinda inefficiency. Swear, some ted stuff is genius, other ted stuff is pretty dumb.

_For example, while you've been paying attention to this video, spontaneous brain activity has been maintaining your breathing at 12-16 breaths a minute, making sure u don't suffocate_

How does the heart work? I know that sinoatrial node spontaneously depolarizes in a rythm, keeping the heart cells contracting in a specific pattern. But aren't the PNS/CNS involved in _any_ of this?

Awareness itself is a brain process that can be multitasked, I think that brain processes natural state are not associated with the process of being aware of the other processes

When I was younger, I used to stare at something and stop breathing. I guess I was focusing too much at staring that I didnt even realize that I stopped breathing.

Why can't we give our heart a break and let it take a day off or two so it can be ready to work for the next ten years. We could be immortal right?
