or to be more precise, eight fingers and two thumbs. This gives us a total of ten digits on our two hands, which we use to count to ten. But is that really as high as we can go? James Tanton investigates. Lesson by James Tanton

Is it weird that I Can hold my thumb either out, or against the palm of my hand to create four states. This allows me to count using base three and still include the number three, and since I can do this with my other thumb, Im able to use my fingers to count to 196, 810. Really

You can only count to 10. The question was on your fingers, not parts of your fingers I could subdivide my fingers into trillions of atoms and count the atoms to tens of trillions or however many atoms there are in each finger.

I can count as high as the numbers of unique gestures I can make. if the movement is restricted to only 2 finger positions, I can count to 1024 in binary.
reply

You can get to 864
If you use all 6 parts on your other hand to mark each 144.
AND YOU REPAT THE PROCESS TO HIM FOR GET TO 144

Somehow, I cannot find any video with someone just counting to 33 on just one hand. Is it just not as well known as the others?
