The sight of mistletoe may either send you scurrying or, if you have your eye on someone, awaiting an opportunity beneath its snow-white berries. But how did the festive tradition of kissing under mistletoe come about? Carlos Reif explains how this long-lived custom intertwines the mythology and biology of this intriguing plant. Anyone know the source behind the so-called norse mythology story? Find nothing of further data on the ted-website for this video. The norse mythology presented here is factually wrong with all scandinavian school education, wikipages and sources I know of. 1) Frigg(a) is NOT godess of love & fertility (it is a confusion with Freja/Freia) and 2) the resurrection of Balder is unheard of, merely able when Ragnarok/armageddon occurs (when all others are dead. I do not get where they get this story from, nor the berries upon the mistletoe being from Frigg's tears. I have no clue, but would very much like to know, where this is stated prior to this video.
Cheers & thanks for any info.

lol My mother told me it was a parasite when I was a kid. However she ALSO said it not to touch it or go near or under it because it would grow on me and kill me like some kind of mold. Thanks mom. Because of that I couldn't understand why people would stand under something so deadly to kiss each other and why the government did stop people. I don't know if she was joking or really believed that.

I believe you are wrong on at least one account. Neither the Eddas, nor Gesta Danorum mentions a happy reunion for Balder and Frigg(a. Hel was willing to release Balder from Hellheim on the condition that everyone wept for him. One giantess refused. So he will stay in Hellheim until Ragnarok. If there is a different version Id love to know the source.

Druids from the British Isles. Not England. England didnt even exist as an entity back then.
And the pagan symbol of mistletoe would have been prominent in tribes a cultures in areas now known as Scotland, and maybe Wales and Ireland.

Loki is a very mischievous god
when he and his brother Thor was playing he turned himself into a snake as Thor pick the snake up to admire it the snake turned back to his original form and stabbed him.
that's why his brother hate him

Ive never (or my family) been remotely interested in Christmas. My first encounter with Mistletoe was in a DnD game where one elf in my group grew some of it & it fed us all.

Not mentionned but should have been, mistletoe is a VIOLENT POISON, wash your hands carefully after handling and keep clear of children
