We have to split our brain into three parts, one which hears and focuses, another which understands the meaning of the source language and another to deliver the message in the target language, it's one of the most stressful jobs in the world, we don't have right to mistakes, whenever something happens, all fingers are pointed in our direction, even if it's not our fault and at the end of the day we all need analgesics for headaches, actually we can' t live without them.

No it literally means we will bury you. But the rest is implied. Much like I And you in Korean. You must understand the language. And Russian is a VERY COMPLEX LANGUAGE WITH MANY MORE WORDS than English. Its a complex language. Any bilingual (or greater) person will agree, I think.

Apparently at an international conference a German speaker was being interpreted into English.
At one point the interpreter fell silent as the German continued to speak.
Suddenly the the interpreter exclaimed Where's the bloody verb?

I translate written materials, and thank God I do cuz it's soooo much easier.
I attempted to translate this video in real time while watching it - and no. Just no. I'll stick to books and tweets and company names.

I sometimes can't tell the difference from Russian and English (eg. me and my mother commonly switch languages mid conversation without even noticing, does this mean I'd be a good interpreter?

I've done this at hospitals in England, with Spanish and Portuguese speakers and let me tell you. I discovered a whole lot of body part names I didn't even know existed.
