History teacher: Class, today we're going to learn about the French Revolution. Can someone tell me about the king?
That Minecraft kid who has listened to the song Viva La Vida by Coldplay: my time to shine
kid: inhales
_Listen as the crowd would sing_
_Now the old king is dead! Long live the king! _
_One minute I held the key_
_Next the walls were closed on me_
_And I discovered that my castles stand_
_upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand_

This is just a narrative of what happened with no attempt to address issue of causes. If you wanted to address causes, you'd have to talk about the development of newspapers and the creation of public opinion, as well as the way the American and Brabant revolutions provided precedents for the French Revolutionaries to follow. Philosophy isn't mentioned at all, but it is hard to imagine the revolution without Rousseau.

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate.
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never a honest word
And that was when I ruled the world

So the french revolution replaced a king by an emperor OK, but since it was caused by the horrible taxes that were placed on the people and since it's considered a great revolution I'm sure it achieved at least lower taxes.

Tell that to the Christian Fundamentalists who believed that the French Revolution was an occultist movement with the influence of Freemason and the Illuminati.

When you learn more about a major event of your own country's history in a 5 minute video in english than in two years of studying this subject in history class.
