In ancient Rome, Vestal Virgins were tasked with keeping vigil over the flame of Vesta, the virgin goddess of the hearth. The flame represented two things: the continuation of Rome as a power in the world and the continuing virginity of Vestas priestesses. But what was life really like for these Vestal Virgins? Peta Greenfield goes back in time to find out. Lesson by Peta Greenfield

These are the atrocities of religious fanaticism, and in the ancient period no child was exempt of such lethal belief since they were born to it and all their life they hankered over a myth and shed blood and stained the beauty of earth, most significantly such beliefs wrenched the innocent child psychology. It is a shame, and a bigger shame that even the children of today are born into despotic religious families to have their innocence distorted and injected with barbaric beliefs.

I really love your videos and I've enjoyed this one in particular a lot, just a small correction: I've studied Latin and I don't think some of the pronunciations are correct, Licinia and incestum in particular, but I realize that for an English speaking person it must be hard, considering how different the phonetics are

First of all TEDx before spreading your ideas of awareness. Please make sure you're not playing it through today way of thinking and understanding and current social norms. If you have some remorse with medieval civilization and concepts. Then I will call this job of indoctrination!
reply

Well, yeah it is shady. But only aprox 20 vestals were found guilty of unchastity in the hundreds of years the Rome empire existed. And these women were the women with more rights of Rome.

Now i can feel how Islam mission to serve and believe only One God is really really fundamental, back then in roman, they kill women just because a flame goes out
reply

Wait.
They must have had something to light it back right!
Why go and confess that the flame had been blown out.
Just relight it up!

reply

This video would never have been made if there would have been matchsticks at that time they could have simply lit the fire again
