Wait so, I'm a bit confused by the light-year logic. Let's say a life form can view our planet from several of light years away, they'd see dinosaurs or some stuff, but what if they physically came here right away? Would they arrive at the time they were seeing? Or would they see the current time we're in right now, cause I can assume if they travel the amount of light-years the life form was seeing from there to Earth, they'll be arriving at our current time. But let's assume they somehow have some teleporter, is the life form going to arrive at the past or the present? And if they came to our time, would they technically be a time traveller because they don't exist from our view? Somethin' to think about

I just read the Future of Humanity by my hero Michio Kaku. He talks about exactly what this video is measuring and is the basis for much of theoretical astrophysics is about: The Light Year.
In his newish book. He explains how even to get to Proxima Centuri B, which is our closest exo planet neighbor it would take at least a generation or more using our present tech. If I am wrong on recall let me know, but I can say with great surety that it will not be possible to achieve extra solar space travel until we are able to approximate light speed in our rockets. So all you all out there. Invent a warp drive so I can leave this messed up planet with you.

Some random alien- Hey dude! I just discovered a blue planet with a natural satellite and I think some beings live their!
Other alien- Great! Send them a message!
One million years later.
Houston- Houston to Kennedy! We have received a message from an extraterrestrial beings!

4: 30 you telling that we seeing sun light 8 minutes ago. And Big Dipper 80 years ago. But I hear we can see faster then light. Like morning we are still able to see sun even his light not on earth Seeing and reaching Both are different I think.

Look 10 to 11 miles east of Goshen elementary school or at the local television stations. How fast is that return and why go the local stations gain from my input while slamming me with Bluetooth cookies while I'm on interstate taxpayer dollars?

to calculate object distance in space all you need is measure the dierential of intensities of that object from two points in straight line then correlate to the light intensity of the object it could be less than few percent error

Actually, in truth. Only God could answer such questions. I mean, come on! All you smarty pants out there that actually think you have it figured out. REALLY? Dont take yourselves so seriously. Trust me, He doesnt.

Obviously, light year is consider all the star lights are reflected by Sunlight.
But infact, you even can't actually prove the Moonlight is reflected by Sunlight.
Thus, all of these are just a THEORY.

big bang happened 14 billion years ago what if we make telescope to see 14. 1 billion light years (you got the point) away.

Using supernova in other galaxies to measure the distance while 'maybe' an entire race is being wiped out is preety scary
