He was a powerful king whose break with the church of Rome would forever change the course of English history. But was he a charismatic reformer who freed his subjects from a corrupt establishment or a bullying tyrant who used Parliament for his own personal gain? Mark Robinson and Alex Gendler put this controversial figure on trial in History vs. Henry VIII. Lesson by Mark Robinson and Alex Gendler, directed by Brett Underhill

0: 58 you mean he had every regard for his legacy, haha. that's a very different thing than having regard for the nation. if he could be convinced some other dynasty would be better for England, do you think he would yield power eargerly. It was probably about him, haha, and not about the nation.

As long as we have food on our plate, a bed to rest our head, equality such as the ones with rich parents enjoy the same luxuries as the one's with none. Why do we even need to put the purpose of human existence on trial?

He really reminds me of a more scholarly Trump, multiple marriages, tyrannical laws, using Parliament/Congress as puppets, daughters known better than sons, lavish lifestyles, heavy eating of meats, horrible diplomacy etc.

He also thought (or was made to believe) that since Catherine was first betrothed to his brother, that their marriage was cursed and it was one of the reasons why their union was not blessed with a male heir.

a bit of info in favor of Henry, he had been a good man for quite awhile. but he got in a accident or something that gave him brain damage.
that's likely what caused him to become a tyrant.

Thomas More was terrible, tortured so-called 'heretics' to attain false confessions, and then arranging their burning at the stake. If anyone deserved to have their head chopped off it was him

He just wanted to get laid. This proves how far we men can go just to get the tasty bacon: create a new religion and a bloodbath between millions. Who raises the bet?
