The answer to the treasure riddle is to simply say the false treasure chest has poisonous gas. If the false treasure chest has poisonous gas in it then you are telling the truth and the truth treasure will open instead which will contain gold. If the false treasure doesnt have poisonous gas then you said something false and the false chest will open with gold inside.

You could also say You will NOT free the creatures. to the troll. If the statement is true, the troll would have to release the creatures, which he can't do without making the statement paradoxically true and false. The troll's only option is for the statement to be false, forcing it to release the creatures and your brother.

they only said the statement had to be a single sentence, but couldn't you just say you are a troll and your skin is pink or something to that end? the troll bit is true and the pink bit is false, but both are separate statements contained within the same sentence.

Could you not also use a statement with a veracity dependent on the moment? Such as you have the paradoxical creatures. Since it's true, he would have to release the creatures which would then make the statement false fprcing the ogre to also release the brother.

Heh, the bonus one is easier than the first. You have two options that result in a win.
Option A: The true chest has the gold.
Option B: The false chest has the gas.
