I thought the second one was because the students who didn't eat chocolate were:
1. Sad/jealous, because they were the ones who didn't get chocolate
but more importantly:
2. Nervous, because the fact that a test is being conducted means there's a good chance there are actual detriments to not eating chocolate, so because of some form of the placebo effect they became more stressed.
